The New York Knicks invade the United Center to do battle with the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in rough shape lately as they’ve lost five of their past six games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Bulls in a 110-102 road loss on Monday. Julius Randle led the team with 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, Alec Burks added 18 points while Isaiah Quickley chipped in with 16 points and seven assists. As a team, the Knicks shot just 42 percent from the field and six of 29 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, before the Bulls stole the game with a pivotal 12-3 run to pile on the misery for the Knicks.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls will be feeling much better as they were able to arrest a three-game slide with Monday’s win over the Knicks. Lauri Markkanen led the team with 30 points on 11 of 18 shooting, Zach LaVine added 21 points on eight of 16 shooting while Coby White and Thaddeus Young each scored 13 points. As a team, the Bulls shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the 3-point line as they hung in the tight contest right until 2:54 left in the fourth quarter where they wont on a 12-3 run capped by a clutch 3-pointer from LaVine.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog. The Bulls are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall.
Head to head, the Knicks are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Chicago.
The Knicks have shown glimpses of their potential this season, but they’ve really cooled off lately and will be disappointed with how they played in their loss on Monday. The Bulls haven’t been much better, but they will take plenty of confidence from Monday’s win, especially LaVine who really stepped up in the clutch. This should be another close one, but I think the Bulls can build on Monday’s win and make it two in a row in this one.
