The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in terrific form lately as they’ve won 10 of their past 12 games but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after having their three-game win streak halted by the Nets in a 124-120 road loss last night. Kawhi Leonard led the team with 33 points and five assists, Paul George added 26 points and six assists while Nicolas Batum chipped in with 21 points on seven of 10 shooting. As a team, the Clippers shot 45 percent from the field and 15 of 36 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 32 points and led by as many as 12 points in the third quarter, before getting rolled in the fourth quarter where they allowed 36 points to the Nets.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in rough shape lately as they’ve lost four of their last six games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after taking down the Timberwolves in a 100-98 home win on Monday. Collin Sexton led the team with 26 points, Jarrett Allen added 23 points with 18 rebounds and five blocks while Darius Garland chipped in with 19 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot just 41 percent from the field and seven of 22 from the 3-point line, but they were scrappy on the defensive end and were always in control after holding the Timberwolves to just 15 points in the second quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record, 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team above .600.
Head to head, the under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings in Cleveland, the Clippers are 5-13 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Cleveland and the Clippers are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Clippers will be so disappointed with last night's loss to the Nets, as they were on fire heading into that contest, but they just couldn't get the stops when they needed it most. The Cavaliers have shown glimpses of their potential this season, but they were in a rut before escaping with the narrow win against the slumping Timberwolves on Monday. The Clippers are playing this one on zero days' rest, but I think we're going to see a response from them after falling just short against the highly-touted Nets. The Clippers are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and I think they bounce back here with a win and cover.
