The Dallas Mavericks and the Atlanta Hawks duke it out at the State Farm Arena on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a real slump lately as they’ve lost nine of their last 11 games and they will be hoping to stop a six-game skid after falling just short to the Suns in a 109-108 home loss on Monday. Luka Doncic led the team with 25 points and eight assists, Josh Richardson added 24 points with four assists while Kristaps Porzingis chipped in with 19 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Mavericks shot 43 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to take the lead with just 54.7 seconds left, before the win got snatched from their hands by the Suns’ Devin Booker who drained the game-winning 3-pointer with just 1.2 second remaining.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in decent form lately as they’ve won five of their last eight games, but they will be looking to bounce back here after getting stopped by the Lakers in a 107-99 home loss on Monday. Trae Young led the team with 25 points and 16 assists, John Collins added 22 points on 10 of 17 shooting while Clint Capela chipped in with 16 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks while shooting eight of 11 from the field. As a team, the Hawks shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 29 from the 3-pointline as they followed the lead of Young who tore up the Lakers’ offense with his dribbling and passing for most of the game, until the fourth quarter where the Lakers poured in 32 points to win easily in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall. The Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 6-2 in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall, the Mavericks are 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings in Atlanta and the Mavericks are 2-11 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall.
The Mavericks have been in terrible form lately and Monday’s home loss to the Suns must have really hurt as they will feel like they should’ve won that one. The Hawks will once again be without De’Andre Hunter, but they put up a great fight against the red-hot Lakers on Monday and are 11-2 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall against the Mavericks. I'm going with the Hawks to pull off the minor upset at home behind a big game from Young.
