The Miami Heat play host to the Sacramento Kings at the American Airlines Arena on Saturday night.
The Sacramento Kings have won just eight of their first 18 games of the season, but they will be gunning for a season-high fourth straight win after last night’s 126-124 road win over the Raptors. Harrison Barnes led the team with 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists, De’Aaron Fox added 24 points, Buddy Hield drained five 3-pointers on his way to 22 points while Tyrese Haliburton provided the spark off the bench with 10 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Kings shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 16 of 36 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 36 points in the first quarter to take an early double-digit lead, before escaping with he narrow win on free throws down the stretch.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games and they will be hoping to snap an ugly five-game skid after falling just short to the Clippers in a 109-105 loss on Thursday. Tyler Herro led the team with 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, Bam Adebayo added 16 points with 13 rebounds and seven assists while Gabe Vincent chipped in with 18 points and four assists. As a team, the Heat shot 44 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 18-point lead to fall behind by as many as 19 points, before seeing their fourth-quarter rally come up just short as they left their run too late.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days’ rest and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Heat are 0-4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 14-4 in the last 18 meetings overall, the Kings are 5-13 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Miami and the Kings are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Kings have come to life with four wins in their last four games after sleepwalking at the start of the season, while the Heat have really struggled to win games as they've been plagued by injuries from day one. Goran Dragic has already been ruled out while Andre Iguodala and Jimmy Butler are both listed as questionable for this one. The Kings are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and given all the question marks surrounding the Heat, I'm taking the Kings to pull off the upset in this spot.
