The Indiana Pacers and the Charlotte Hornets duke it out once again at the Spectrum Center on Friday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in decent form lately as they’ve won three of their last four games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Hornets in a 116-106 road win on Wednesday. Malcolm Brogdon has been on a tear for the Pacers and he once again led the way with 25 points and six assists, Domantas Sabonis racked up a triple-double of 22 points with 11 rebounds and 10 assists, Doug McDermott added 28 points off the bench while Justin Holiday chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 51 percent from the field and 16 of 40 from the 3-point line as they shot out of the gates to lead by 36-19 by the end of the first quarter, before pulling away in the fourth quarter where they poured in another 32 points.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost six of their past seven games and because they had their last game postponed, they haven’t seen the court since their loss to the Pacers on Wednesday. Terry Rozier led the team with 20 points on eight of 18 shooting, PJ Washington added 18 points with eight rebounds and four assists while Devonte Graham and Gordon Hayward each scored 16 points. As a team, the Hornets shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 38 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to rally back from an early 17-point deficit, only to fade in the fourth quarter to allow the Pacers to escape with the win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team below .400. The Hornets are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a double-digit loss at home and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games as a home underdog.
Head to head, the over is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings in Charlotte, the Pacers are 3-9 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Charlotte and the Pacers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Pacers have been a little streaky this season, but they’re currently playing some of their best basketball with their lineup almost at full strength. The Hornets showed glimpses of their potential at the start of the season, but they’re in a funk now and just look to be catching the Pacers at the wrong time. The Pacers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall and I think they can keep that trend going with another win and cover here.
