The Philadelphia 76ers invade the Chesapeake Energy Arena to battle the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form this season as they’ve won nine of their first 14 games, but they will be looking to bounce back after last night’s106-104 loss to the Grizzlies. Shake Milton continued his hot form with 28 points and four assists off the bench, Tobias Harris added 21 points, Ben Simmons racked up 11 points with 16 rebounds and nine assists while Dwight Howard chipped in with eight points, 18 rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the 76ers shot 44 percent from the field and seven of 25 from the 3-point line as they struggled early and fell behind by 14 points before seeing their late rally fall short as Tyrese Maxey missed the game-winner at the buzzer.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games and they will be looking to build some momentum after outlasting the Bulls in a 127-125 overtime home win on Friday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 33 points and 10 assists on 13 of 19 shooting, Luguentz Dort added 21 points with eight rebounds and six steals while Isaiah Roby and Kenrich Williams each scored 14 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 45 percent from the field and 15 of 45 from the 3-point line as they rallied all the way back from a 22-point deficit to force overtime where they held the Bulls to just seven points.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 16-34-2 ATS in their last 42 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a losing home record. The Thunder are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.
Head to head, the 76ers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Oklahoma City and the 76ers are 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
Joel Embiid didn't even travel with the team on this road trip, so the 76ers will once again be shorthanded for this one as they look to bounce back from last night's disappointing loss to the young Grizzlies. The Thunder have come to life over their past seven games and they will take plenty of confidence from their comeback win in overtime over the Bulls. I'd be tempted to take the Thunder in this spot if we were getting more free points, but with the line so short, I'm sticking with the 76ers to get the win and cover even though they aren't the best road team.
