The Brooklyn and the New York Knicks duke it out at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in decent form to start the season as they’ve split their first 12 games and they will be looking to build some momentum after last night’s 122-116 home win over the Nuggets. Kevin Durant led the team with 34 points, nine rebounds and 13 assists, Caris LeVert added 20 points and six assists off the bench while Joe Harris chipped in with 15 points and four assists on six of nine shooting. As a team, the Nets shot a ridiculous 60 percent from the field and 16 of 32 from the 3-point line, but they committed a total of 18 turnovers which meant they had to rally all the way back from an 18-point deficit to escape with the much-needed win to snap a two-game skid.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their first 11 games, but they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after getting routed by the Hornets in a 109-88 road loss on Monday. Kevin Knox led the team with 19 points off the bench, Elfrid Payton added 15 points, Austin Rivers scored 13 points while Mitchell Robinson chipped in with 12 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Knicks shot just 39 percent from the field and nine of 37 from the 3-point line which wasn’t nearly enough to hang with the more balanced Hornets who outscored them in every quarter. The Knicks just couldn’t put a lid on the Hornets’ Gordon Hayward who scorched them for 34 points on 11 of 17 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 7-20 ATS in their last 27 games playing on zero days rest, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Knicks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 9-0 in the last nine meetings overall, the Nets are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the Nets are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in New York.
The Knicks have surprised some teams this season, but they’ve really cooled off with three straight losses after getting routed by the Hornets on Monday. The Nets are playing this one on zero days rest, but they're clearly the better team in this matchup with Durant in the lineup, so I'm taking the Nets to build on last night with another win and cover here.
Peter’s Pick Brooklyn -5.5
