The Detroit Pistons travel to the Pepsi Center to do battle with the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost 12 of their last 14 games and they will be hoping to put an end to a six-game skid after falling short to the Trailblazers in a 107-104 road loss on Sunday. Christian Wood led the team with 26 points and nine rebounds off the bench, Derrick Rose and Brandon Knight each scored 15 points while Langston Galloway chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 43 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line as they fell into an early 19-point deficit after allowing 40 points in the first quarter, before rallying to lead by as many as 10 points. However, the Pistons just couldn’t hang on as the Trailblazers rallied late behind CJ McCollum and Carmelo Anthony to escape with the win.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in great shape as they’ve won nine of their past 13 games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Timberwolves in a 128-116 home win on Sunday. Paul Millsap led the team with 25 points on nine of 11 shooting, Nikola Jokic added 24 points with seven rebounds and six assists while Jamal Murray chipped in with 19 points and six assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot a healthy 58 percent from the field and 11 of 30 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 43 points in the first quarter and dominated the game to lead by as many as 22 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a winning record, 5-1 ATS in their last six road games against a team with a winning home record and 14-30-1 ATS in their last 45 games as an underdog. The Nuggets are 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 games against a team below .400 and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings overall, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Denver and the Pistons are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Pistons have struggled with injuries all season and now they’re just waiting looking forward to the offseason after trading away Andre Drummond to the Cavaliers. The Nuggets have been red-hot lately and they will be feeling good after making light work of the slumping Timberwolves on Sunday. The Pistons are just 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a winning record so it’s hard to see anything but a win for the Nuggets here, but this just seems like too many free points as the Nuggets don’t really blow teams out like you think they would.
