The Charlotte Hornets play host to the Brooklyn Nets at the Spectrum Center on Saturday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in decent shape as they’ve won seven of their past 11 games, but they are coming into this game looking to bounce back after falling short against the 76ers in a 112-104 overtime loss on Thursday. Caris LeVert led the team with 25 points and five assists on nine of 29 shooting, Spencer Dinwiddie added 22 points with eight assists while DeAndre Jordan chipped in with 14 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Nets shot just 35 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line as they fell into an early 16-point deficit, only to respond with a 44-8 run to give them the lead going into halftime. The game tightened up in the second half as the 76ers responded behind the play of Joel Embiid, but the overtime period was their downfall as they scored just one point in overtime.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have lost 13 of their last 17 games, but they are coming into this game with plenty of momentum as they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after taking down the lowly Bulls in a 103-93 road win on Thursday. Malik Monk led the team in scoring with 25 points off the bench, Miles Bridges added 22 points with eight rebounds, PJ Washington scored 17 points while Cody Zeller chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 47 percent from the field and eight of 28 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 33 points in the first quarter to lead by 16 points at halftime, before holding off a late rally from the Bulls to escape with the win. Terry Rozier scored 14 points, while Devonte’ Graham had a forgettable night as he finished scoreless on zero of seven shooting in 33 minutes of action.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 5-1 ATS in their last six home games following a road trip of 7 or more days.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Charlotte, the Nets are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall and the Nets are 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Charlotte.
The Nets were on a nice run before falling to the 76ers in a tough overtime loss in their last outing, while the Hornets have quietly strung together three straight victories to inject a bit of life into their season. The Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss and 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Charlotte, so while I think the Hornets will put up a good fight, I’m taking the Nets to bounce back in this one.
