The Los Angeles Lakers play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Staples Center on Friday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been playing some of their best basketball of the season as they have won eight of their last 11 games, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after last night’s 129-125 road loss to the Kings. De’Andre Melton led the team in scoring with 24 points on five of 10 shooting off the bench, Ja Morant added 19 points while Jaren Jackson Jr. and Tyus Jones each scored 16 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 30 from the 3-point line as they hung in the contest right to the end, despite the Kings’ Harrison Barnes scorching them for seven 3-pointers to finish with 32 points.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their last six games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after sneaking past the Nuggets in a 120-116 overtime road win on Feb 12. Anthony Davis led the team with 33 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks, LeBron James racked up a triple-double of 32 points with 12 rebounds and 14 assists while Dwight Howard chipped in with 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Lakers shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they missed on a chance to win it in regulation, before making up for it in overtime where they held the Nuggets to just five points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 5-0 ATS in their last five games playing on zero day’s rest, 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-0 in the last six meetings overall and the Grizzlies are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Los Angeles.
The Grizzlies have been one of the surprise teams of the league this season and they’ve been in great form, but they’re coming off a tough loss to the Kings and will have to take on the red-hot Lakers on zero days’ notice which is always tough. The Lakers have been in great touch and they will be looking to fine tune themselves as they head towards the playoffs. The Grizzlies are 5-0 ATS in their last five games playing zero days’ rest and 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 games overall. It’s hard to see anything but a win for the Lakers as they come into this one with fresh legs, but this just seems like too many free points to be handing this Grizzlies team.
