The Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics collide at the TD Garden on Saturday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in fine form as they've won six of their past eight games, but they will be coming into this one looking to bounce back after having their two-game win streak halted by the Hawks in a 127-117 road loss on Thursday. Ben Simmons led the team with 31 points and five assists, Shake Milton added 27 points with six assists while Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris each scored 21 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 46 percent from the field and nine of 31 from the 3-point line, but it wasn't enough to hang with the Hawks who were led by Trae Young who poured in 39 points with a career-high 18 assists.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been on a nice run themselves as they've won five of their last six games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the Warriors in a 119-104 home win on Thursday. Gordon Hayward led the team with 25 points and eight rebounds, Marcus Smart provided the spark off the bench with 21 points, Jayson Tatum added 20 points while Jaylen Brown chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 47 percent from the field and 15 of 35 from the 3-point line as they outscored the Warriors in every quarter to finish in a blowout.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 road games and 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record. The Celtics are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games against a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Boston, the 76ers are 5-11 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall and the 76ers are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Boston.
The 76ers were in great form before getting ambushed by the Hawks in their last outing, while the Celtics have really been surging lately as they're finally back to full strength. The 76ers are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 road games and they are just 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Boston, so I'm sticking with the Celtics to get the win and cover at home.
