The Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder duke it out at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Monday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they've won five of their last seven games, but they are coming into this one looking to bounce back after getting stopped by the red-hot Jazz in a 112-107 road loss on Saturday. Luka Doncic led the team with 25 points, six rebounds and seven assists, Seth Curry added 19 points while Kristaps Porzingis chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 43 percent from the field and 16 of 41 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 35 points in the first quarter to lead by as many as 13 points, but the Jazz stayed in the contest with their defense until the fourth quarter where they poured in 32 points to steal the game. The Mavericks did a nice job of committing just nine turnovers, but they got outscored by 17-7 at the charity stripe.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league as they have won 17 of their last 22 games and they will be aiming for a sixth straight victory after taking down the Timberwolves in a 113-104 road win on Saturday. Dennis Schroder led the team with 26 points off the bench, Chris Paul added 25 points with 10 assists while Darius Bazley chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 24 from the 3-point line as they led by four points at halftime, before they poured in 39 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 20 points before easing off in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 18-5-3 ATS in their last 26 road games and 4-1-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Thunder are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a winning record, 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games against a team with a winning road record and 20-7 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Oklahoma City and the Mavericks are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Mavericks have been in fine form, but they are coming into this one off a rare loss after getting stopped by the red-hot Jazz in their last outing. The Thunder have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league lately and they should be full of confidence as they've won five in a row. This should be a close one and you could make an argument for either side, but the Thunder are just in a groove right now and I think this could be a statement game for them.
