The Boston Celtics play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the TD Garden on Wednesday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in season-best form as they've were riding a seven-game win streak before getting stopped by the Pelicans in a 126-116 home loss on Monday. Dillon Brooks led the team with 31 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 19 points while Ja Morant chipped in with 16 points and nine assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 44 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a nice start with 30 points in the first quarter, but they were always fighting a losing battle after getting outscored by 38-20 in the second quarter to trail by as many as 25 points. Defensively, the Grizzlies had no answer for Jrue Holiday who drained seven 3-pointers on his way to 36 points.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in bit a rut as they've lost six of their last nine games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after blowing out the Lakers in a 139-107 home win on Monday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 27 points on 10 of 18 shooting, Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown each scored 20 points while Enes KAnter chipped in with 18 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot a sizzling 55 percent from the field and 16 of 34 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running with 33 points in the first quarter and they never let up as they poured on 70 points in the second half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record, 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Celtics are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points, 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a losing road record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games as a favorite.
Head to head, the over is 22-5 in the last 27 meetings overall, the Grizzlies are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Grizzlies are 16-4 ATS in the last 20 meetings in Boston.
The Grizzlies have been on a nice run lately with Morant and Brooks leading the way, while the Celtics were looking like a mess before their impressive rout of the Lakers. On paper, the Celtics really should have no trouble taking care of the young Grizzlies, especially in their own building, but I think the Celtics will have a bit of a letdown performance after such a big win.
