The Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers meet Thursday in game two of NBA playoff action at the AdventHealth Arena.
The Portland Trail Blazers have a chance to inch closer to an upset by winning here and taking a 2-0 series lead. The Portland Trail Blazers are averaging 100 points on 39.2 percent shooting and allowing 93 points on 35.1 percent shooting. Damian Lillard is averaging 34 points and five assists while CJ McCollum is averaging 21 points and five rebounds. The Portland Trail Blazers are shooting 38.2 percent from beyond the arc and 75.8 percent from the free throw line. The Portland Trail Blazers are allowing 15.6 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 50 rebounds per game.
The Los Angeles Lakers need a victory here to even up the series at 1-1. The Los Angeles Lakers are averaging 93 points on 35.1 percent shooting and allowing 100 points on 39.2 percent shooting. Anthony Davis is averaging 28 points and 11 rebounds while LeBron James is averaging 23 points and 16 assists. Kyle Kuzma is the third double-digit scorer and Danny Green is grabbing two rebounds. The Los Angeles Lakers are shooting 15.6 percent from beyond the arc and 64.5 percent from the free throw line. The Los Angeles Lakers are allowing 38.2 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 55 rebounds per game.
The Trail Blazers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog, 21-8 ATS in their last 29 Thursday games and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Lakers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The over is 25-9 in Trail Blazers last 34 overall. The Trail Blazers are 20-7 ATS in the last 27 meetings in Los Angeles and 47-22 ATS in the last 69 meetings.
I had the Portland Trail Blazers winning this series, so them pulling off a game one upset doesn't surprise me. What should concern the Lakers is that the Trail Blazers won the game while shooting under 40 percent from the field. The Portland Trail Blazers are a better offensive team than what they showed and winning while not shooting well should give them a great deal of confidence. The Los Angeles Lakers just aren't a deep team, as they're made up of LeBron, AD and a bunch of question marks. The Lakers easily have the worst group of guards inside the NBA bubble. The Lakers should be favored to win this game, but I'll have the Trail Blazers and the points once again.
