The Memphis Grizzlies and the Boston Celtics duke it out at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Tuesday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in fine form lately as they’ve won four of their six games in the bubble and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after outlasting the Magic in a 122-119 overtime win on Sunday. Gordon Hayward led the team with 31 points, nine rebounds and five assists, Jayson Tatum added 29 points with nine rebounds and six assists while Jaylen Brown chipped in with 19 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Celtics shot 44 percent from the field and 12 of 40 from the 3-point line as they closed the fourth quarter on a 7-2 run to force overtime where they escape behind a flurry from Hayward and Tatum. Kemba Walker had a night to forget as he finished with just four points on one of nine shooting.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have won just one of their six games in Orlando and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling short to the Raptors in a 108-99 loss on Sunday. Dillon Brooks led the team with 25 points on 11 of 26 shooting, Grayson Allen added 20 points off the bench while Ja Morant chipped in with 17 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 40 percent from the field and 14 of 42 from the 3-point line as they took the early lead by holding the Raptors to just 20 points in the first quarter, but the second and third quarters belonged to the Raptors who outscored them by a combined 68-46. Jonas Valanciunas has been solid in the bubble, but he had a rough night as he finished scoreless in 27 minutes of action.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 1-4-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days rest, 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record and 2-5-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Grizzlies are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record, 1-5 ATS in their last six games as an underdog and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 21-5 in the last 26 meetings overall, the Celtics are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Memphis and the Celtics are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Celtics are clearly the team in better form coming into this one and they will clearly be full of confidence following their overtime win over the Magic, while the Grizzlies haven’t been able to find any momentum in the bubble. In usual circumstances, I’d be all over the Celtics who should win easily, but with the third seed all but secured, they’re likely to rest some players, so the Grizzlies look interesting here.
