The Golden Eagles and Sideline Cancer will meet in the Championship of TBT (The Basketball Tournament) 2020. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM EST start time and it will be televised on ESPN. The Golden Eagles are the #4 seed and Sideline Cancer is the #22 seed in the tournament.
For the second straight year, the Golden Eagles have reached the TBT Championship. The Golden Eagles defeated Red Scare in the semifinals by a score of 79-70. This Golden Eagles team had to defeat Team CP3, Team Brotherly Love, and now Red Scare to reach the Championship once again. Last year, Golden Eagles had to take on Carmen's Crew in the Championship (in which Carmen's Crew was crowned the winner), but this year, this Golden Eagles team has to take on the biggest Cinderella squad in TBT history, Sideline Cancer.
Sideline Cancer pulled off one of, if not the biggest upset in TBT history on Sunday, as Sideline Cancer took down Overseas Elite. Overseas Elite was not only the #2 seed in TBT, but Overseas Elite is also the most winningest team in TBT history, and it is not even close. Overseas Elite has won the TBT four times, and Sideline Cancer was able to end Overseas' hopes for five. Sideline Cancer, led by PG Marcus Keene, was down 10 points at halftime. When it seemed as if Overseas Elite was going to pull away and reach yet another TBT Championship, Sideline Cancer turned it on. A huge fourth-quarter comeback was a team effort from the entire roster for Sideline Cancer. From Marcus Keene to Jamel Artis, to Mo Creek, Sideline Cancer was firing on all cylinders. Mo Creek hit the game-winning three-pointer for Sideline Cancer, as a 67-65 final score was entered into the history books.
The Golden Eagles and Sideline Cancer play a very similar style of basketball, with the three-pointer a crucial part of both team's games. Dwight Buycks and Marcus Keene will be in the spotlight for both teams, as those are the guys that can put their teams on their shoulders. Look for this to be a close contest for the majority of the game, but when the final horn sounds, I have to take Golden Eagles to earn its first championship. I just trust in the Golden Eagles experience in this tournament, and I do not think they are going to let Sideline Cancer do what Carmen's Crew did last year. Good Luck! This should be a great Championship!
