Team CP3 and PrimeTime Players face off in the opening round of the TBT tournament on July 4th at Nationwide Arena. The TBT Tournament is a winner take all tournament. It originally was supposed to be Mid American Unity playing in this game, but they had to withdraw, so PrimeTime Players gets the shot. Team CP3 is organized by Chris Paul and includes players that were included in the CP3 grassroots program. The coach of the team is Chris Paul, but it’s hard to know if he will actually be closing the team in person.

Nate Mason is one of the stars of this team. Mason played his college ball at the University of Minnesota, averaging 16.7 points per game during the 2017-18 season. Codi Miller-Mcintyre, David Weaver, and CJ Harris played their college ball at Wake Forest. Harris is a veteran who averaged 15.4 points per game during his senior year in 2012-13.

One place this team might have issues is with their center position. James Dickey is the best center for the team and he averaged 8.7 points per game his late-season at UNC Greensboro.

On the other side of this matchup is PrimeTime Players who were a late addition to the tournament, but don’t let that fool you, this is a team that is used to playing with each other. According to their bio, PrimeTime Players have played over 700 games together.

This is a team that is mostly filled with smaller school players, but they are still plenty talented. They play a league schedule, and one of the stars for that has been PJ Heath who played his college ball at Allen University. In 2019, Heath was named the East Coast Basketball League defensive player of the year.

Odell Turner placed his college ball at Wingate, a place he was a standout. During his senior season, Turner averaged 11.7 points per game.

In terms of talent the argument could be made for team CP3, but PrimeTime Players has played more games together and that will be the difference. Look for PrimeTime Players' experience together, be the difference as they come away with the first-round win.
