The Indiana Pacers are currently in 2nd place in the Central, as the Pacers sit 14 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks. The Pacers are (39-26) during the 2019-20 campaign. Indiana has averaged just over 109 points per contest throughout the season. The team has been paced by T.J. Warren. Warren is registering 18.7 points per contest to this point on the season. Let’s take a closer look at the Indiana Pacers roster, remaining schedule, and their odds come postseason play.
Roster Breakdown: Warren leads the way in points, but is also recording 4 rebounds per contest. Domantas Sabonis has been just as valuable as Warren, as the power forward is collecting a double-double on average. Sabonis is totaling 18.5 points and 12.4 rebounds per game. The former Virginia Cavalier, MalcolmBrogdon has had his fair share of success during this season. Brogdon is averaging over 16 points, while leading the team in assists per contest. Brogdon is dishing out more than 7 assists per game. The Pacers have 4 other players averaging double figures on the season. Doug McDermott is knocking down 44.5 percent of his 3-pointers on the season.
Remaining Schedule: vs. Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Clippers, and Los Angeles Lakers.
Help or Hurt: Did the abrupt Coronavirus break help or hurt the Pacers? Most teams enjoy getting a break especially down the stretch, as it gives the organizations a chance to catch their breath and rest some of their key players. However, the Pacers were playing quite well and saw one of their best stretches of play during the 19-20 season. Indiana had gone 8-3 in their last 11 games before the season was put on hold. That stretch included 6 wins of 7 games. I do think the break hurt the Pacers, as Indiana’s momentum has been cooled off.
Odds: The Indiana Pacers have been pegged as +2900 to win the Eastern Conference Finals and +10000 to win the NBA Finals Championship. It’s clear there are better options to put a play on, when it comes to teams having better odds. Although, the Pacers do have some winnable games left on the schedule, once play resumes. If Indiana can go 5-3 in those last 8 games, the Pacers should be able to move up a spot or two in the expanded playoffs. The Pacers have an offense that goes three players deep on the bench, when it comes to points. Look for Indiana to give some teams fits once play resumes, as the Pacers have a solid 8 man rotation.
