The Golden State Warriors pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.
The Golden State Warriors have been in a world of hurt as they've lost 18 of their first 22 games of the season and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after getting routed by the struggling Hawks in a 104-79 road loss on Monday. Eric Paschall led the team with 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists on nine of 11 shooting, Alec Burks added 15 points while Omari Spellman and Ky Bowman each scored 10 points. As a team, the Warriors shot 39 percent from the field a miserly three of 17 from the 3-point line as they took the early lead before getting outscored in the second and third quarters by a combined 56-30. Draymond Green was rested on Monday but is likely to suit up on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a slump of their own as they've lost seven of their last nine games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short against the Suns in a 109-104 home loss on Monday. Marvin Williams led the team with 22 points off the bench, Devonte' Graham added 15 points with 13 assists while Terry Rozier chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds. As a team, the Hornets shot 44 percent from the field and seven of 26 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 20-point halftime deficit to lead by as many as seven points until the Suns closed the game on a 12-0 run to steal the win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games against a team with a losing home record. The Hornets are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games against a team below .400 and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on one day's rest.
Head to head, the road team is 7-1-1 ATS in the last nine meetings, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings and the Warriors are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Charlotte.
Green is expected to return for the Warriors, but the way the season has been going, you still feel they are about four starters shy of a proper starting lineup. The Warriors have shown glimpses of life this season, but their confidence must be pretty low as they're coming into this one fresh off a bad loss to the struggling Hawks who had won just four games before Monday. The Hornets haven't been much better, but they will be kicking themselves after letting the Suns slip by on Monday and I think they make up for it with a win here.
