The New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons duke it out at Little Caesars Palace on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have endured a rough start to the season with six losses in their first seven games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling to the Kings in a 113-92 home loss on Sunday. Marcus Morris led the team with 28 points on nine of 14 shooting, RJ Barrett added 22 points on eight of 20 shooting while Julius Randle scored just eight points on four of 13 shooting. As a team, the Knicks shot just 40 percent from the field and eight of 31 from the 3-point line as they started flat and never really challenged after getting outscored by 61-41 in the first half.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons are in need of a win as they've lost five of their first eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the Wizards in a 115-99 road loss on Monday. Luke Kennard led the team with 24 points and five assists, Andre Drummond added 15 points with 24 rebounds on six of 20 shooting while Christian Wood chipped in with 15 points and two blocks off the bench. As a team, the Pistons shot 41 percent from the field and 13 of 27 from the 3-point line as they started well with 61 points in the first half, before letting the game slip in the third quarter where they were outscored by 30-17.
The Knicks have been a mess from the start of the season and it doesn't seem like it's going to improve anytime soon if their performance against the struggling Kings was anything to go by. The Pistons have gone through their own struggles with key players like Blake Griffin and Reggie Jackson both still out with injuries, but at least they have some level of reliability with Drummond putting up monster numbers on a nightly basis. It's hard to have much confidence in either team, but the Pistons haven't played since Sunday and I think they'll be just good enough to win in a close one.
