The NASCAR Xfinity Series will roll into the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL on Saturday for the Drive for the Cure 250. The Charlotte ROVAL is a 2.28-mile road course, part of track is the Charlotte Motor Speedway oval with the rest being road course in the middle of the oval. The Xfinity race will consist of 67 laps, making up the advertised distance of 250 kilometers. Saturday’s Xfinity Race is the final in the round of 12 and will be cut to 8 drivers.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Drive for the Cure 250.
Austin Cindric +220- Cindric comes into Saturday’s Xfinity Series race starting from the pole position after a solid 8th place finish at Talladega last time out. Cindric has 5 wins on the 2021 Xfinity Series circuit, one of the 5 victories coming at the INDY Road Course in August. In 19 career Xfinity starts on a road course, Cindric has 13 top 5 finishes including 5 wins. Cindric has clinched a spot in the Round of 8 on points after Talladega one week ago and can now go out and go for a win.
A.J. Allmendinger +230- A.J. take the green flag for Saturday’s Xfinity race from the 14th position. Allmendinger comes from a road racing background as well as plenty Cup Series experience. With 17 career road course starts in the Xfinity Series, Allemdinger has 14 top 5 finishes including 5 victories. A.J. won the Xfinity race at Mid-Ohio Road Course back in June, leading 23 of the 78 laps. Allmendinger is 33 points above the cut line heading into Saturday’s Xfinity race into the Round of 8, doesn’t have to win but does need a top 5 finish.
Ty Gibbs +450- Gibbs will fire off alongside Jeremy Clements from the 14th position on Saturday afternoon for the race the Charlotte ROVAL. 15 starts on the season to date for Ty in the Xfinity Series and has come away 8 top 5 finishes and 3 wins. Gibbs grabbed the first career Xfinity victory in his first career start in the series at the Daytona Road Course back in February. Ty followed up with a solid 3rd place finish at Mid-Ohio in the Xfinity race. Disappointment followed however as Ty finished 33rd after transmission issues forced an early retirement from the Xfinity race at Road America in July. Look for Gibbs to have a great run on Saturday afternoon.
Daniel Hemric +1500- Hemric will come from 2nd row in the 3rd starting spot on Saturday afternoon for the Xfinity Series race at the Charlote Roval. Hemric has 2 career starts at the Charlotte ROVAL, coming home 10th in the 2018 Xfinity race and 3rd in 2020. Hemric has been very solid at the road courses on the 2021 Xfinity season most notably a 3rd place finish at the Daytona Road Course and a 2nd place finish at Road America in July. Hemric sitting 41 points above the cut line in the 3rd spot of the Round of 12 heading into Saturday’s race, look for a solid race.
Jeb Burton +5000- Jeb will start from the 7th position on Saturday afternoon in the Drive For The Cure 250. Big price here on Jeb heading into Saturday’s event and sitting just 9 points below the cut line to get into the Round of 8 of the 2021 Xfinity Playoffs Jeb needs a great run. Burton has 3 top 10 finishes in the 6 road course events on the Xfinity schedule to date including a 5th place finish at the Daytona Road Course in February. Saturday marks the first time Jeb will start an Xfinity race at the Charlotte ROVAL but with the urgency to win and get in, sprinkle some action here on the big longshot.
