The NASCAR Xfinity Series resumes on Saturday afternoon at the Watkins Glen road course as part 2 of a double header with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Watkins Glen is a 2.450-mile road course with 11 turns. Unlike most road courses on the Xfinity circuit, Watkins Glen is not as technical and has long straightaways that create a ton of speed. The Glen is narrow and passing is difficult, so track position is very important here.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey 200.
Austin Cindric +180- Cindric comes into Saturday’s Xfinity Series race starting from the 2nd position after a solid 4thplace finish at New Hampshire last time out. Cindric has 4 wins on the 2021 Xfinity Series circuit but none have come on a road course. In 17 career Xfinity starts on a road course, Cindric has 11 top 5 finishes including 4 wins. Cindric currently leads the 2021 Xfinity Series point standings by 82 total points over A.J. Allmendinger and now heading to a road course, look out for the big favorite.
A.J. Allmendinger +220- A.J. take the green flag for Saturday’s Xfinity race from the 6th position. Allmendinger comes from a road racing background as well as plenty Cup Series experience. With 15 career road course starts in the Xfinity Series, Allemdinger has 12 top 5 finishes including 5 victories. A.J. won the Xfinity race at Mid-Ohio Road Course back in June, leading 23 of the 78 laps. Allmendinger will likely be the best challenger to Cindric so keep A.J in mind on Saturday afternoon.
Ty Gibbs +550- Gibbs will fire off alongside Jade Buford from the 15th position on Saturday afternoon for the race at Watkins Glen. 9 starts on the season to date for Ty in the Xfinity Series and has come away 7 top 5 finishes and 2 wins. Gibbs grabbed the first career Xfinity victory in his first career start in the series at the Daytona Road Course back in February. Ty followed up with a solid 3rd place finish at Mid-Ohio in the Xfinity race. Disappointment followed however as Ty finished 33rd after transmission issues forced an early retirement from the Xfinity race at Road America in July. Look for bounce back here from Gibbs and crew.
Daniel Hemric +900- Hemric will come from 2nd row in the 3rd starting spot on Saturday afternoon for the Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen. Hemric has 2 career starts at Watkins Glen International, coming home 11th in the 2017 Xfinity race. Hemric has been very solid at the road courses on the 2021 Xfinity season most notably a 3rd place finish at the Daytona Road Course and a 2nd place finish at Road America in July. Nice price here on a top 3 racecar for Saturday afternoon, consider Hemric.
Justin Allgaier +1000- Allgaier will start from the pole position on Saturday afternoon for the Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey 200. Justin finished a disappointing 26th at the Daytona Road Course in that Xfinity Series event in February but followed up with a solid 3rd place finish at the road course in Austin, TX. In 36 career Xfinity Series starts on road courses, Allgaier has 22 top 10 finishes including 10 top 5 finishes and 3 wins. Allgaier has 9 starts at Watkins Glen with 3 top 5 finishes. Decent value here with Allgaier consider him for the win.
