2021 Jockey Made in America 250: NASCAR CUP Preview, Odds, Picks, Longshots
The NASCAR Cup Series will make the inaugural stop to Road America on Sunday afternoon for the Jockey Made in America 250. Road America is a 4.048-mile road course with 14 turns and Sunday’s Cup Series race will consist of 62 total laps to make up the 250-mile advertised distance. Practice and qualifying will take place leading up to the race on Sunday here for the Cup Series, with track position being of upmost importance as passing is very difficult at Road America.
Here are 5 drivers to consider for the Jockey Made in America 250.
Chase Elliott +250- Chase sitting 6th in the 2021 Cup Series standings currently, has 10 top 10 finishes including 8 top 5 finishes and the victory at COTA back in May. Sunday will be the first time Elliott has competed in NASCAR competition at Road America and has proven to be the best road racer over the last couple of years. Chase needs a great finish after 3 finishes in a row outside the top 10. Expect Chase to be in the top 3 in the final stage.
Kyle Larson +350- Larson comes into Sunday’s race sitting 2nd in the 2021 Cup Series standings with 14 top 10 finishes on the season including 11 top 5 finishes. Larson won the last road course race in the Cup Series at Sonoma back in June leading 57 of the 92 laps on the way to winning the race. Larson finished 2nd at COTA on the season in addition to the victory at Sonoma and over the last 9 Cup Series road course races has the 3rd best average driver rating of 104.9. Look for Larson to bounce back from one week ago at Pocono.
Martin Truex Jr. +450- Truex currently holds down the 7th spot in the 2021 Cup Series point standings, with 9 top 10 finishes including 6 top 5s and 3 wins. Truex finished 3rd at Sonoma back in June in the Cup Series race and over the last 11 Cup Series races held on road courses has the 2nd best driver rating of 116.1. Although Truex hasn’t raced a Road America in a Cup car, a road course will be a welcome site as Truex has failed to finish in the top 10 in the last 3 races on the circuit. Look for Truex to be competitive at Road America.
Joey Logano +1200- Logano holds down the 4th spot in the Cup Series standings heading into the event on Sunday afternoon with 12 top 10 finishes on the season including 7 top 5 finishes and a victory at Bristol on the dirt. Logano has finished top 5 in all 3 road course races on the 2021 Cup Series. Joey is one of the many drivers that have yet to turn a lap in a Cup car at Road America and over the last 7 Cup Series road course races has finished inside the top 10 in all. Logano is a great dark horse for the win at Road America on Sunday.
Christopher Bell +4000- Bell is the longshot of the week and comes in 16th in the Cup Series standings currently with 2 top 5 finishes on the season including a win. Bell has 3 Xfinity starts at Road America and did win the race in 2019 after starting 12th. Bell won at the Daytona Road Course in February of 2021 in the Cup Series and with seat time already at Road America makes him worth a sprinkle of action.
