NASCAR Cup Series rolls into the Pocono Mountains in Long Pond, PA for a double-header weekend. Saturday’s Cup Series race will be the first of two and will consist of 130 laps to make up the advertised 325-mile distance. Pocono is a unique 2.5-mile tri-oval, affectionately known as the “Tricky Triangle.” Pit strategy plays the biggest factor at Pocono typically as the track is so big that under green flag conditions hard to go a lap down.
Here are 5 drivers to consider for the Pocono Organics CBD 325.
Kyle Larson +230- Larson comes into Saturday’s race starting from the pole position. Larson on an incredible run has won 3 Cup Series races in a row and won the All-Star race as well. Pocono hasn’t been the kindest track to Larson with 12 starts and 6 top 10 finishes including 3 top 5s has yet to pick up a victory at the track. Good news for Larson is the starting spot up front as passing is extremely difficult at the Pocono Raceway. Larson and the Hendrick Motorsports team are a hard bunch to beat currently and Kyle is a heavy favorite for a big reason.
William Byron +700- Byron fires off from the 2nd starting spot on Saturday afternoon for the Pocono Organics CBD 325. On the season, Byron has 13 top 10 finishes though 17 races including 7 top 5s and 1 victory. Over the last 6 races held at Pocono Raceway in the NASCAR Cup Series, William has the 4th best average finish of 9.67 with an average driver rating of 88.4 and 4 top 10 finishes. As fast as the Hendrick cars are heading into Pocono on Saturday, Byron could be one to out-pace teammate Kyle Larson.
Kyle Busch +800- Kyle will roll off from the 5th position on Saturday afternoon out at the Pocono Raceway. Over the last 6 races at Pocono in the Cup Series, Busch has 5 top 10 finishes including 2 victories. Kyle maintains the 3rd best average finish at Pocono over the last 6 Cup Series races of 9.57 and an average driver rating of 116.8 that is 2nd best. 2021 has been a roller coaster of performance for Kyle and team but of late have run well. Look for Kyle to be in contention on Saturday afternoon.
Denny Hamlin +850- Denny will share the 5th row with Christopher Bell and will start from the 10th spot for Saturday’s Pocono Organics CBD 325. Denny has the 2nd best average finish over the last 6 Cup Series races held at Pocono and the 3rd best average driver rating of 115.5. Denny has 6 career Cup Series wins at Pocono in 30 starts. Denny has been in a rut as of late and now heading to Pocono will be no better time than to rebound. Look for Hamlin to have a strong run on Saturday afternoon.
Martin Truex Jr. +1000- Truex will take the green flag from the 15th starting spot for the Pocono Organics 325 on Saturday afternoon. Martin has been struggling the most since joining Joe Gibbs Racing over the last 5 races with only 1 top 10 finish. 4 finishes of outside the top 20 in the last 5 Cup Series races have Truex looking forward to Pocono. Over the last 6 races at Pocono, Truex has 4 top 10 finishes including 2 top 5s and a victory. Like the other Gibbs teammates, expect Truex to have a nice bounce back day on Saturday afternoon.
