After a busy week in Austin, TX at Circuit of the Americas road course, we head to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coke 600. As one of the crown jewels of NASCAR, the Coke 600 is longest race on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule. Attrition is the name of the game at the Coke 600, and we will see who will overcome the late race obstacles. Charlotte Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile quad-oval and Sunday’s race will consist of 400 laps to make up the 600-mile distance.
Here are 5 drivers to consider for the Coca Cola 600.
Kyle Larson +500- Larson comes into Sunday’s race sitting 3rd in the 2021 Cup Series standings with 9 top 10 finishes on the season including 7 top 5 finishes. Larson won at Las Vegas earlier on the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, leading 103 of the 267 laps. Larson led 132 of 267 laps at Kansas 4 races back in the Cup Series and a late race restart didn’t go his way finishing 19th. 3 2nd place finishes in a row, Larson will be in a fast car once again and just needs to get past the obstacles.
Martin Truex Jr. +550- Truex currently holds down the 6th spot in the 2021 Cup Series point standings, field best 3 victories on the season to date along with 8 top 10 finishes. Martin looking to rebound after the crazy crash at COTA one week ago. Truex has the best average driver rating of 114.4 over that last 4 races held on the oval track at the Charlotte Motor Speedway including a win and a top 5 finish. Truex happy to be back home at Charlotte on Sunday for the Coke 600, look for Martin and team to seek the front.
Chase Elliott +700- Chase sitting 5th in the 2021 Cup Series standings currently, has 8 top 10 finishes including 6 top 5 finishes and the victory at COTA one week ago. Chase has been very well on the Charlotte oval over the last 4 races with 3 top finishes including a win. Elliott has the 2nd best average finish of 4.5 over the last 4 races at Charlotte and the 3rd best average driver rating of 110.7. Hendrick showing great speed currently, decent price here on Chase heading into the Coke 600 on Sunday.
Ryan Blaney +1000- Ryan down the list sitting 7th in the Cup Series standings heading into the event on Sunday afternoon with 6 top 10 finishes on the season including 2 top 5 finishes. Blaney went to victory lane at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in the March Cup Series event. Over the last 4 Cup Series races on the Charlotte oval, Ryan has 2 top 3rd place finishes that came in 2020 and the 4th best average driver rating of 101.4. After finishing outside of the top 10 over the last 2 Cup Series races, Blaney will have a great opportunity to bounce back here at Charlotte in the Coke 600 on Sunday.
Brad Keselowski +1000- Brad comes in 9th in the Cup Series standings currently with 5 top 5 finishes on the season including a win. Over the last 3 Cup Series races on the 2021 season, Brad has failed to crack the top 15. Not all bad news, Brad has the 4th best average finish on the Charlotte oval over the last 4 Cup Series races of 7.75. Brad won the 600 in 2020 only needing to lead the final 21 laps. Consider a sprinkle of action here on Brad as the team is very well in strategy in the longer distance races.
