The NASCAR Xfinity Series returns from an off week to take on the Darlington Speedway early Saturday afternoon in the Steakhouse Elite 200. Saturday Xfinity Series race will consist of 147 laps to make up the 200-mile advertised distance. Darlington is a 1.366-mile egg-shaped oval, the turn 1 and 2 end of the speedway is bigger than the turn 3 and 4 end of the speedway. Saturday’s race is will consist of 3 pit stops at least but any mistakes are very costly with Saturday’s at such a short distance.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Steakhouse Elite 200.
A.J. Allmendinger +450- A.J. will lead the field to the green flag on Saturday afternoon from the pole position for the Steakhouse Elite 200. Allmendinger arguably has the most laps around Darlington of the competitors in the field for Saturday’s race and that is so important here at Darlington. Saturday will mark A.J.’s first start in an Xfinity Series car at Darlington but with the pole position to get started should do very well. A.J knows all about managing equipment on the rough track surfaces, look for Allmendinger to contend on Saturday.
Noah Gragson +550- Gragson will fire off from the 5th position on Saturday for the Xfinity Series race at Darlington. Noah has 3 races completed at the Darlington Raceway and has not finished outside of the top 10 in the Xfinity Series at the track. Noah ran away from the field earlier this season at Homestead leading 34 of the 167 laps. A lap down car crashed and took Gragson out in the process with 2 laps to go. Gragson rebounded with a 4th place effort at Atlanta and will be a factor on Saturday afternoon.
Harrison Burton +600- Burton will take the green flag for Saturday’s Steakhouse Elite from the 8th position. Harrison finished 9th and 6th respectively in the 2 Xfinity Series one season ago in 2020. After blowing an engine at Homestead-Miami, Burton followed up with a solid 3rd place finish at the Atlanta Motor Speedway back in March. In the best equipment on the circuit, Harrison is likely to be in the top 5 here at Darlington in the final stage and in position for a victory on Saturday afternoon.
Daniel Hemric +700- Hemric will take the green flag from the 4th row in the 7th position. Hemric had 2019 in the full-time Cup Series ride and in 2020 finished 6th at Darlington in the first Xfinity race, but crashed lap 2 of the 2020 Playoff race at Darlington finishing 37th. Hemric in the Joe Gibbs Toyota finished 3rd at the Homestead-Miami Speedway and finished 9th at Atlanta this season. Expect Hemric to be in the running for the win on Saturday afternoon.
Brandon Jones +1100- Jones will start the Steakhouse Elite 200 at Darlington on Saturday afternoon from the 22nd position. Jones will have to do some work in order to get to the front and have a few cautions. In 6 starts at Darlington, Brandon has 3 top 10 finishes including a victory in the most recent Xfinity race held at Darlington. Jones finished 2nd at Homestead back in February and with patience can climb to the top 5 by the final stage.
