After a wild weekend in Talladega last Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series will be running the Buschy McBusch Race 400 on Sunday afternoon at the Kansas Speedway. Kansas is a 1.5-mile cookie cutter oval and Sunday’s event will consist of 267 laps to make up the 400-mile distance. In 2020, the first Kansas Cup Race was run in July under the lights and the 2020 playoff race at Kansas was run during the day, but the temperature was cold. Expect the track to get slick on Sunday as track temperature will likely be enough to affect the handling of the racecars.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Buschy McBusch Race 400.
Denny Hamlin +550- Hamlin will begin Sunday’s journey around the Kansas Speedway from the 20th position after crashing at Talladega last Sunday. Denny won the first of 2 Cup Series races at Kansas in 2020 and over the last 6 races at Kansas has 3 top 5s including 2 wins. Denny ran strong at Las Vegas back in March of this year finishing 4th and led 47 of the 267 total laps. Hamlin has finished outside the top 5 in only 2 of the 10 races run on the 2021 Cup Series schedule to date and is expected to have a great run at Kansas on Sunday.
Kyle Larson +600- Larson will roll off from the 32nd position for Sunday’s Cup Series race at Kansas. Larson’s engine blew up on Sunday at Talladega less than 10 laps into the event, finishing 40th causing the far back starting spot. Larson shouldn’t be held back long on Sunday, with the competition caution and at least the 2 stage breaks Larson and team could strategize a plan to the front. Larson led 103 of the 267 laps at Las Vegas in March of this year on the way to winning the race, followed up with a 2nd place at Atlanta. Look for Larson to bounce back at Kansas on Sunday.
Brad Keselowski +850- Brad fires off from the pole position for Sunday’s Buschy McBuschy Race 400 at the Kansas Speedway. Brad led the 1 lap, the final at Talladega to win the race last Sunday and looking to back it up with another victory at Kansas. Brad has the 4th best average driver rating of 102 at the Kansas Speedway over the last 6 NASCAR Cup Series races held. Great track position to start Sunday’s race from, look for Brad to be a big player by the end of Sunday’s race.
Ryan Blaney +1000- Ryan will begin Sunday’s Cup Series race at Kansas from the 7th starting spot. Blaney has the 8th best average driver rating over the last 6 races at Kansas with only 2 top 10 finishes. Blaney had the 2nd best green flag speed in the first race at Kansas in 2020 and typically unloads fast here. 5th place finish at Las Vegas and a victory at Atlanta with the 1.5-mile tracks similar to Kansas, look for Blaney to have a good shot of winning here on Sunday.
Kyle Busch +1200- Busch rolls off on row 5 from the 9th starting spot on Sunday afternoon at Kansas Speedway. Seems has if Kyle and team have hit on speed at the 1.5-mile tracks already finishing 3rd at Las Vegas and 5th in Atlanta. Kyle has 4 top 10 finishes at Kansas over the last 6 races in the Cup Series. Kyle will race in the Truck Series race on Saturday night, so extra seat time will give Busch and team extra knowledge for Sunday. Great value on Kyle at Kansas Sunday, take a shot with Busch.
