The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series head to the Richmond Raceway on Saturday afternoon for Toyota Care 250. Saturday’s race at Richmond will be 250 laps to make up the advertised distance for the Truck Series. Richmond is .75 mile short track in a D shape. Turns are flat banked and as of recent tire wear has been medium as the surface has aged.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Toyota Care 250.
Kyle Busch -130– Kyle will head in Saturday’s event has a heavy favorite at a rare juiced price. Busch will start from 12th spot and could be in the top 5 by the competition caution. Kyle finished 2nd in the Las Vegas Truck Series race and followed up with a win at Atlanta in his 2nd Truck Series start of 2021. No doubt Busch has pretty much been one of the best to drive one of the trucks in series history and I expect a good shot on Kyle being in victory lane on Saturday afternoon.
John Hunter Nemechek +750- John Hunter will fire off from the 18th position on Saturday afternoon, furthest back position he will start from this season. An early race crash at Bristol on the dirt didn’t do any favors for Nemechek, but a great opportunity to bounce back here for Kyle Busch Motorsports on Saturday at Richmond. John Hunter has finished in the top 10 in all but 1 race in the Truck Series in 2021 and expect the team will unload a fast truck here on Saturday afternoon for the Toyota Care 250.
Sheldon Creed +1000- For being 3rd in the 2021 Truck Series standings currently, sure doesn’t seem like Creed should be holding that spot down after some inconsistencies in 2021. Creed will begin Saturday’s Truck Series race from the 9th starting spot and even with starting in the top 10 will have some work to do. Richmond is a wide short track but passing is a challenge, especially among the top trucks. Creed’s first Richmond Truck Series start came last season in 2020 and finished 13th. Creed should come into Richmond with a faster truck this time around, look for Creed to grind it out to get to the front.
Ben Rhodes +1200- Shooting out of cannon, Rhodes won the first Truck Series race of 2021 at Daytona and 1 week later won on the Daytona Road Course with another victory. Vegas and Atlanta didn’t go as well, but Rhodes surprised at Bristol on the dirt finishing 2nd. Ben will lead the field to the green flag on Saturday afternoon in the Toyota Care 250 from the pole position. Ben started 2nd at Richmond in 2020 and finished 3rd in the Truck Series event. Great value here on Ben Rhodes, consider a little action on Saturday.
Grant Enfinger +1800- Enfinger is a long shot play for the Truck Series Toyota Care 250 on Saturday afternoon. Grant won the 2020 Truck Series race at Richmond, only needing to lead 18 of the 250 laps to claim victory. Enfinger is sharing the ride in the # 98 truck in 2021, so every opportunity he has to have a good finish is so important to the racing future. Luckily, Grant will be starting from the 3rd position on Saturday afternoon for the Toyota Care 250, so track position will be the advantage. Sprinkle a little on Enfinger on Saturday afternoon.
