2021 BrakeBest Brake Pads 159-NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Picks, Odds, and Prediction 2/19/21
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will run the first road course event of the year at Daytona International Speedway in the BrakeBest Brake Pads 159 on Friday evening. Friday’s race will 44 total laps around the 3.610 mile road course configuration to make up the 159 mile distance. The Camping World Truck Series did race 1 time in August of 2020 at the Daytona Road Course, with the race ending in overtime. Road course racing in general has been fun over the last 10 years in NASCAR, and I expect a great show from the trucks on Friday.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the BrakeBest Brake Pads 159.
Sheldon Creed +450– Creed will roll off from the 5th position on Friday night at the Daytona Road Course. Sheldon is the defending winner of the BrakeBest Brake Pads 159, in 2020 leading 19 of the 46 laps including the overtime green-white-checkered to bring home the hardware. 2020 Daytona Road Course was the only road course race of the season for the Trucks, and Creed just dominated the race. Creed off and rolling here in 2021, look for Sheldon to be up front by the end of the Dayton Road Course race on Friday Night.
John Hunter Nemechek +500- John Hunter will begin Friday night’s Truck Series race from the 4th position. Nemechek makes a full time return to the Camping World Truck Series in 2021 as a full-time competitor and comes with a year in the Cup Series experience on road courses here at Daytona. Track position will be key in Friday night’s Truck Series race and John Hunter has the aggressive driving style to whip around the hairpin turns on Daytona’s Road Course. Look for Nemechek to be in contention on Friday night.
Brett Moffitt +550- After a 25th place finish on the big track at Daytona last Friday, Moffitt will be looking to avenge a less than desirable finish on the road at Daytona on Friday Night. Moffitt started 3rd back in August of 2020 at the Daytona Road Course and finished 2nd after leading 13 laps. Brett will have to do some work and gain positions on pit road Friday night. Moffitt is no stranger to the road courses in his career in the Camping World Truck Series and if he avoids trouble should be in position to win Friday night.
Matt Crafton +1400- Crafton began the 2020 Daytona Road Course race in the 12th position and finished a respectable 4th, leading 7 of the 46 total laps. Crafton will have a great opportunity starting Friday night’s race from the 9th starting spot. Matt is arguably the most experienced driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and road course racing is nothing new. Great value here on Crafton Friday night.
Raphael Lessard +2500- Lessard is my long shot to win the BrakeBest Brake Pads 159 on Friday night in the Camping World Truck Series. Lessard finished 3rd in 2020 at the inaugural Truck Race on the Daytona Road Course with Kyle Busch Motorsports. Now making the move to GMS Racing, Lessard is once again in solid equipment for Friday’s Truck race at Daytona. Be sure to consider a fraction to Raphael to win on Friday night.
