The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series begins the 2021 season at Daytona International Speedway in the NextEra Energy 250 on Friday evening. The famous Daytona track is known close bumper to bumper action in each NASCAR race, and Friday’s Truck Race is no exception. Names are made at Daytona and names are made in NASCAR Truck Series and the season starts off with a bang here on Friday night.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the NextEra Energy 250.
Grant Enfinger +1000– Grant Enfinger begins the 2021 season as veteran if the Truck Series in the Curb Records Toyota. Since 2018 in the Truck Series, Grant has picked up 3 top 10s at Daytona including a win in last year’s NextEra 250. Enfinger claimed 4 victories in 2020 and 13 top 10 finishes. Grant should be right at home at Daytona on Friday night, and will be going for that 2nd win here at Daytona.
Austin Hill +1000- Austin mowed through the 2020 season leading the points most of the way. 35th place finish at Martinsville in the playoff cutoff race put Hill out of contention for a championship run at Phoenix, but a new leaf is turned and 2021 is here. Austin finished 6th at Daytona 1 year ago in the Truck Series race. Expect Hill to have a fast truck here on Friday night in the NextEra 250 to kick off the 2021 campaign.
John Hunter Nemechek +1100- Very exciting to see John Hunter run for rookie of the year in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020, but now he is refocusing and driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports in 2021. The move back was surprising, but it means Nemechek is obviously achieving a championship. With the experience John gained in the Cup Series last year through 4 Super Speedway races, now in top tier equipment, has to be one to consider for the win on Friday night. Major value on John Hunter Friday in the NextEra 250.
Chandler Smith +2000- Smith started 12 races for Kyle Busch Motorsports last year in the #51 truck and had 5 top 5 finishes including a 3rd place finish at Talladega in October. Now running full time in 2021, time to step up to the plate and no better place to do so than here at Daytona. Talent and some of the best equipment on the track Friday night, consider Smith for the win.
Chase Purdy +3300- Chase Purdy is my long shot to win at Daytona on Friday night. Purdy joins GMS racing in 2021 full time after starting 10 races in 2020. Chase is no doubt an up and comer to the Truck Series, earned the pole at Kansas in 2020 and finished 10th in that race. Good news is Chase will have 3 teammates to draft with on Friday night at Daytona, and he could be around for the win.
