The NASCAR Cup Series will conclude the 2020 season at the Phoenix Raceway on Sunday afternoon as the Championship 4 have been determined. Phoenix is a 1-mile dog-legged oval with 2 distinct ends of the raceway. Sunday’s race will be 312 laps to make up the 500-kilometer advertised distance. Sunday’s race is going to be a no holds bar leaving nothing on the table race and should be very entertaining.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Season Finale 500.
Kevin Harvick +400- Truex will roll off from the 11th position on Sunday afternoon at the Phoenix Raceway. After a heartbreaking issue at Martinsville last week, Harvick surprisingly missed the Championship 4 here at Phoenix. Kevin would no doubt be a bigger favorite if he had made the final cut but now has nothing to lose and will go for a victory. Kevin has the 2nd best average driver rating and 2nd best average finish at Phoenix over the last 7 races. Kevin has failed to finish outside the top 10 at Phoenix over the last 14 Cup Series held here. Look for Harvick to bring home a win to end the 2020 season.
Denny Hamlin +600- Denny will start from the 4th position on Sunday for the Season Finale 500. Denny is in the Championship 4 on Sunday afternoon at Phoenix. Denny won the 2019 fall race here a Phoenix, leading 142 of the 312 laps and running all 312 laps in the top 15. Denny has the 4th best average driver rating here at Phoenix over the last 7 Cup Races of 104.5. Denny has 4 top 10 finishes including 3 top 5s and the victory in 2019. I expect we see Denny make a push for victory on Sunday.
Brad Keselowski +800 – Brad will fire off Sunday’s Season Finale 500 from the 3rd spot. Brad earned his way into the Championship 4 at Martinsville 1 week ago. Brad was going to finish top 5 and possibly win at Martinsville last week, but a speeding penalty crushed the hopes of a victory. Keselowski hasn’t claimed victory in his Cup career at Phoenix and over the last 6 Cup races here has only 1 top 10 finish. Brad has victories at New Hampshire and Richmond, tracks compare to Phoenix. I expect Penske and team to bring a fast race car to Phoenix to make a push towards the 2020 Championship on Sunday.
Joey Logano +900- Logano rolls off from the 2nd position alongside Chase Elliott on Sunday afternoon at Phoenix. Joey made the Championship 4 cut off by winning at Kansas Speedway back in October. Logano won the most recent Cup Series race here at Phoenix back in February. Joey has 3 top 10 finishes and 2 top 5 finishes with the victory over the last 7 here at Phoenix. The Penske cars have been strong on the 1-mile ovals in 2020 and I think Joey can be in position to win on Sunday afternoon and take home the Championship.
Jeff’s Pick Kevin Harvick +400
