The NASCAR Cup Series will run the final race in the round of 12 of the 2020 playoffs on Sunday at the Charlotte Roval in the Bank of America ROVAL 400. The 4 drivers on the outside looking in include Austin Dillon, Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer, and Kyle Busch. The ROVAL at Charlotte Motor Speedway is a 2.28 mile road course. Only 2 races have been run at the ROVAL, and both races were very exciting to the end.
Here are a few drivers to consider for Bank of America ROVAL 400.
Chase Elliott +320- Chase will roll off from the 2nd starting spot on Sunday afternoon for the Bank of America ROVAL 400 at the Charlotte Road Course. Elliott currently sits 4th in the 2020 standings heading to the ROVAL on Sunday in Charlotte. Chase led 35 of the 106 laps in 2019 at the Charlotte ROVAL to capture a victory. Chase also found victory lane at the Daytona Road Course back in August for the inaugural Cup Series race. Elliott has won 4 of 9 races on road courses in the Cup Series dating back to 2017, part of 7 top 10 finishes in that timespan. Good reason Chase comes in as the outright favorite, consider him on Sunday afternoon.
Denny Hamlin +800 – Denny will roll off from the pole position on Sunday afternoon at the Charlotte Road Course. Hamlin sits atop the point standings heading into the Bank of America ROVAL 400 and has secured a spot into the round of 8 after the victory came at Talladega last Sunday. Hamlin hasn’t had the best of luck at the ROVAL in the first 2 races held here finishing outside the top 10 each time. Denny finished 2nd at the Daytona Road Course though back in August. Since 2017, Denny has the 5th best average driver rating of 95.4. Take a look at Denny for Sunday afternoon.
Kevin Harvick +800- Harvick will start Sunday’s Bank of America Roval 400 at the Charlotte ROVAL from the 4th position. Harvick is 68 points ahead of the cut line into the round of 8. A victory at Charlotte on Sunday afternoon would lock Harvick in but as long as nothing crazy happens should be secure. Harvick has been solid on road courses over the last 9, with 7 top 10 finishes including 3 top 5s and a victory. Harvick has the 3rd best average driver rating since 2017 on road courses of 102.1. Harvick should have a good race on Sunday.
Alex Bowman +1900 – Alex Bowman will start Sunday’s Cup Series race at Charlotte from the 5th position. Bowman currently sits 7th in the 2020 standings, barely in the round of 8 as of now. Bowman has the 6th best average finish on road courses since 2017 of 9.86. Bowman has 2 top 5 finishes on road courses since 2017, both coming at the Charlotte ROVAL. Bowman finished 2nd in 2019 at the ROVAL, and finished 12th at Daytona Road Course back in August. Bowman is a strong long shot play for me on Sunday, so consider throwing a partial unit in on the outright.
Jeff’s Pick Chase Elliott +320
