The NASCAR Cup Series will run the final race in the round of 12 of the 2020 playoffs on Sunday at the Charlotte ROVAL in the Bank of America ROVAL 400. I will focus on the last 2 races in at the Charlotte ROVAL as well as the last 3 races run at Watkins Glen below. The Charlotte ROVAL is 2.28 mile road course in the middle of the Charlotte Motor Speedway oval using parts of the oval track as well. The 2 races held at the ROVAL in the NASCAR Cup Series have been very exciting and hopefully we have another exciting finish on Sunday.
Here are a few matchups to consider for the Bank of America ROVAL 400.
Denny Hamlin -125 vs. Kevin Harvick -106
Harvick has finished ahead of Hamlin in the 2 races held on the Charlotte ROVAL and Harvick comes in as a dog in the matchup. Harvick and Hamlin have an average finish of 8th on road courses since 2017. Harvick has the edge in average driver rating over Hamlin however at 102.1 compared to Hamlin’s 95.4. Denny ran had a solid 2nd place finish at the Daytona Road Course, but I think Harvick will pull this one out on Sunday.
Jeff’s Pick: Kevin Harvick -106
Erik Jones -115 vs. Aric Almirola -115
Erik Jones has traditionally been a decent road course racer, but not at the ROVAL. In the 2 races at the Charlotte ROVAL, Jones has finished 20th and 40th respectfully. Meanwhile Aric Almirola is usually out run by Jones on the road courses. Almirola has finished 14th and 19th at the ROVAL in the 2 races held here. Jones is already out of the playoffs and will not return to the 20 car next year while Almirola is fighting for playoff life. I will take Almirola easy over Erik on Sunday.
Jeff’s Pick: Aric Almirola -115
Brad Keselowski -134 vs. Joey Logano +100
Keselowski has outrun Logano 3 of 5 races held on road courses since the 2019 season. The matchup has been split 1-1 with Brad and Joey at the ROVAL. Keselowski’s upside is typically higher than Logano’s at road course events. Brad has an average driver rating of 90.6 over the last 9 races on road courses and Logano has an average driver rating of 72.4. Joey needs to just get through the race without incident, and I think Brad can make a run at a win. Take Keselowski over Logano.
Jeff’s Pick: Brad Keselowski -134
