The NASCAR Xfinity Series will roll into the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL on Saturday for the Drive for the Cure 250. The Charlotte ROVAL is a 2.28 mile road course, part of track is the Charlotte Motor Speedway oval with the rest being road course in the middle of the oval. The Xfinity race will consist of 67 laps, making up the advertised distance of 250 kilometers. Saturday’s Xfinity Race is the final in the round of 12 and will be cut to 8 drivers.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Drive for the Cure 250.
Austin Cindric +150- Cindric will begin the Xfinity race on Saturday from the 11th position. Cindric is 2nd in the point standings currently, 34 points behind Chase Briscoe. Austin comes into Saturday’s race as a big favorite and he should make way to the front very fast. Cindric is no doubt the best the road racer on the Xfinity circuit, as he led 21 of the 52 laps at the inaugural Daytona Road Course race in August. The play is either to put a full unit on Cindric or take a chance with a smaller unit on another driver.
Chase Briscoe +400- Chase will roll off from the 8th starting spot on Saturday. Currently, Chase leads the 2020 standings and is locked into the round of 8 in the playoffs that will begin after the ROVAL. Chase won the exciting race back in July at the INDY Road Course in the Xfinity Series. Briscoe finished 3rd at the Daytona Road Course race back in August, and I expect him to be competitive on Saturday. Give Chase some consideration on Saturday in the Drive for the Cure 250.
Noah Gragson +1000- Noah will fire off from the pole position on Saturday afternoon at the Charlotte ROVAL. Noah comes into Saturday’s Drive for the Cure 250 sitting 3rd in the 2020 standings. In the 3 races the Xfinity Series has run at road courses in 2020, Gragson has 3 top 10 finishes, including 2 top 5 finishes. Gragson’s aggressive driving style into handling the big heavy car around the road courses puts him a level above most of the competition at this track type. Take a shot on Gragson to win on Saturday.
Brandon Jones +6600- Jones will roll off from the 4th position on Saturday afternoon at the Charlotte Roval. Brandon is 5th in the 2020 standings and needs a solid run on Saturday afternoon to secure a spot in the round of 8 in the 2020 playoffs. For the most part, Brandon has been an automatic fade for me on road courses because of poor performance. However, in the last 2 races on road courses Jones has finished 14th at Road America and 2nd at Daytona Road Course back in August. With great track position built in, Jones is worth a partial unit.
