The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series heads to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday night for the World of Westgate 200. Friday’s race will be the 2nd of three races in the round of 10 in the 2020 Truck Series Playoffs. Las Vegas is a 1.5 mile intermediate oval, and tire wear is a medium. Handling around the turns is key to a fast truck at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and the restarts are usually entertaining.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the World of Westgate 200.
Austin Hill +300– Hill is going to start the World of Westgate 200 from the 11th spot and will have work to do right from the start. Hill began the 2020 Playoffs with a very disappointing 25th place finish at Bristol 1 week ago. Prior to Bristol, Austin had a string of 5 top 10 finishes, including 3 top 5s. Austin finished 3rd in the first race at Las Vegas back in February, and a great run is exactly what is needed right away.
Brett Moffitt +450- Moffitt will start the Friday night’s race from the pole. Currently, Moffitt leads the 2020 Truck Series point standings and amazingly has no victories on the season. Brett got off to a slow start in 2020, and finished 16th at the Las Vegas race back in February. Over the last 4 races on the circuit however, Moffitt has been running way better than earlier in 2020. Moffitt is overdue for a victory in 2020, and I could easily see him winning on Friday night.
Zane Smith +650- Zane will roll off from the 7th position for Friday night’s Truck Series race in Las Vegas. Smith started out well at Bristol 1 week ago, and the tires went away with 40 laps to go as the team tried to go on 1 pit stop. 2020 has been some what of a roller coaster ride for Zane. Seems like each race, Zane runs top 3 then the final stage happens. Zane needs to put together an entire race at Las Vegas on Friday, and I think he has a shot to win. Sprinkle in a little action on Smith.
Grant Enfinger +1200- Grant will begin the race at Las Vegas from the 3rd position. As of late, Grant and team have been peaking as now the 2020 playoffs are underway. Enfinger has 5 top 5 finishes over the last 6 races. Grant crashed out of the February 2020 race here at Las Vegas, finishing 31st. Enfinger bounced back well with consecutive 3rd place finishes at Kansas in the double header weekend back July. Enfinger should be in for a good showing on Friday night, so give him some consideration.
Ben Rhodes +1600 -Ben will roll off from the 8th position for Friday’s Truck Series race. Rhodes had a solid 5th place finish at Las Vegas back in February of 2020, and overall has been top 10 in almost every 1.5 mile race on the circuit to date here in 2020. Rhodes will be my longshot play of the night here at Vegas. Once again, Rhodes should have a competitive truck at Vegas, so consider a sprinkle on him for the outright.
