The Nascar Cup Series will be under the lights for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Bristol is my home track and it is a half-mile, steeply banked concrete oval. Affectionally dubbed, the “World’s Fastest Half Mile” the drivers can complete a lap around Bristol in only 15 seconds. The Night Race is the cutoff for the next round of the 2020 Cup Series Playoffs and 4 drivers will face elimination on Saturday evening.
Here are a few drivers to consider for Bass Pro Shops Night Race.
Denny Hamiln +480- Denny will start the Night Race at Bristol from the 7th position. Denny won the 2019 Bristol Night Race, passing Matt DiBenedetto with 11 laps to go. Denny has the 3rd best average driver rating at Bristol of the last 7 races at 99.4. Denny has 4 top 10 finishes including 3 top 5s in the last 7 races at Bristol. Denny sits 2nd in points, but over the last 2 races has finished outside of the top 10. Denny is the favorite for a reason, and I see him having a great chance of winning on Saturday night.
Chase Elliott +700- Chase will roll off from the 6th position on Saturday evening at Bristol. Chase battled Joey Logano for the lead in the closing laps of the race at Bristol and ended up crashing with 2 laps to go. Chase followed up in dominating fashion however winning the All Star race in June at Bristol. Chase currently sits 7th in the point standings, and I expect the team to bring back the fast car they had in the All Star race. Give a look to Elliott on Saturday night.
Joey Logano +1000 – Joey will start the Bass Pro Shops Night Race from the 2nd position. Joey currently sits 4th in the standings, and will easily move on to the next round of the playoffs. Joey has the 3rd best average driver rating at Bristol over the last 7 races at 101.3. Joe has racked up 4 top 10 finishes including 3 top 5 finishes in the last 7 at Bristol. Logano has strung together 8 top 10 finishes over the last 9 races, including 3rd place finishes at Darlington and Richmond. I feel strongly that Joey and team can capture a victory on Saturday night at Bristol.
Kurt Busch +1900- Kurt is long shot play for me on Saturday night at Bristol. Kurt won the 2018 Night Race at Bristol while still in the seat with Stewart-Haas Racing. Kurt has 5 top 10 finishes over the last 6 races at Bristol, including 3 top 5s. Sitting 11th in the standings currently, a win at Bristol on Saturday night would buffer Kurt and team heading into the round of 12 in the playoffs. Kurt should have a competitive car on Saturday night, so consider sprinkling in a little action.
Jeff’s Pick Chase Elliott +700
