The Nascar Cup Series will be under the lights at the Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday night for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. Bristol is a half-mile short track, steeply banked and very fast. One lap around Bristol takes only 15 seconds, so any mistakes under green eliminate a chance to win typically. I will be focusing on the last 7 races run at Bristol Motor Speedway for the content below.
Here are a few matchups to consider for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race.
Kyle Busch -115 vs. Kevin Harvick -115
Kyle has won 5 of the last 7 races at Bristol against Kevin Harvick. Harvick will start from the 4th position Saturday night at Bristol and Kyle will start from the 9th position. Harvick has clinched a spot in the next round of the playoffs and I don’t see him going out and attacking Bristol like bubble drivers do. Meanwhile, Bristol couldn’t come at better time for Kyle Busch. Kyle has been the best here for a while, and I expect him to finish ahead of Harvick on Saturday night at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
Jeff’s Pick Kyle Busch -115
Denny Hamlin -134 vs. Chase Elliott +100
Denny has won this match 5 out of the last 7 races against Chase at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Denny won the Night Race at Bristol last year and has the 3rd best average driver rating over the last 7 races at Bristol of 99.4. Chase battled Joey Logano for the lead in the June race at Bristol, and the two wrecked each other with 2 to go. Chase made a heck of a comeback in the All Star Race at Bristol in June, dominating and taking home a victory. Denny has already claimed a spot in the next round of the playoffs, and Chase sits 7th. I am taking a shot on Chase in the match up against Denny Hamlin.
Jeff’s Pick: Chase Elliott +100
Erik Jones -115 vs. Clint Bowyer -115
Clint has won the match up against Erik Jones in 5 of the last 7 races held at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Over the last 7 races at Bristol, Clint Bowyer has 6 top 10 finishes, including two 2nd place finishes. Erik is no slouch either at Bristol, picking up 3 top 5 finishes over the last 7 races. With Erik missing the playoffs and moving on the from the #20 team next season, I can just see him riding around. Bowyer is close to the bubble spot on being cut from the playoffs, and I think he will have a great run on Saturday night.
Jeff’s Pick: Clint Bowyer -115
