Friday night the NASCAR Xfinity Series will begin round 1 of the 2020 playoffs at the Bristol Motor Speedway with the running of the Food City 300. Bristol is a half-mile short track, steeply banked, and one lap around only takes 15 seconds. No Cup Series drivers have entered into the Food City 300 Friday night, so we should expect a competitive race, and maybe even a few hot tempers postrace.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Food City 300.
Justin Allgaier +250- Allgaier has been red hot over the last 5 races on the 2020 Xfinity season, sweeping both races at Richmond 1 week ago. Allgaier will roll off from the pole position. Back at the first race in June at Bristol, Justin led 156 of the 300 laps, and was on the way to a victory before he was involved in a late race incident knocking him out of the race. Justin will be looking for redemption at Bristol on Friday night, and I have confidence he can find victory lane.
Austin Cindric +275- Austin will start Fridays Xfinity Series race from the 4th position. Once again, Cindric will be one of the cars to beat on Friday. Cindric has 7 top 5 finishes over the last 10 races, and 18 top 20 finishes in the 25 races completed on the 2020 schedule. Cindric will look to have a bounce back at Bristol, as he was involved in a crash on lap 7 of the first Bristol back in June. Cindric won the 2nd Dover race in 2020, and he could easily win the Food City 300 on Friday night.
Ross Chastain +900- Chastain will roll off from the 2nd position. Ross is 3rd in the point standings to begin the 2020 Xfinity playoffs. Chastain has been a top 3 car over the last 5 races, and it’s hard to believe he’s not won an Xfinity race in 2020. Ross has 5 top 5 finishes over the last 6 races, and 22 top 10 finishes on the 2020 Xfinity season. Chastain heads into Bristol with the most momentum in my opinion. Chastain should be in for a great showing on Friday night, so consider rolling with him.
Harrison Burton +1100- Burton will fire off from the 6th starting spot on Friday evening in the Food City 300. Harrison finished 4th back at Bristol earlier in 2020, and he won the first race held at Homestead back in June. Burton has finished top 10 at all steep tracks that compare to Bristol on the 2020 season. Harrison currently sits 7th in points, so a top 5 finish or better is what Burton needs for some insurance in the first round of the playoffs. Sprinkle in some action on Harrison on Friday night.
