The Nascar Cup Series will be under the lights at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday night for the Federated Auto Parts 400. Saturday night’s race is the 2nd in the first round of the 2020 playoffs, and there are a couple of names already on the chopping block. Richmond is a .75 mile short track, wide and flat.
Here are a few drivers to consider for Federated Auto Parts 400.
Kevin Harvick +480- Harvick once again heads into another race on the 2020 schedule as a co-favorite. Harvick will start the Federated Auto Parts 400 from the pole position, and this is crucial for Harvick in the pit box selection and for track position. Kevin has the 3rd best average driver rating over the last 6 races run at Richmond at a 111. Harvick has 5 top 10s over the last 6, including 4 top 5s. Harvick has secured a spot in the next round of the 2020 playoffs, no he has nothing to lose. Consider Harvick on Saturday evening.
Denny Hamlin +480- Hamlin will roll off from the 7th position on Saturday evening for the Federated Auto Parts 400. Richmond is Denny’s home track, as he grew up 15 mins away, and no doubt he wants to have a great race. Denny has 5 top 5 finishes at Richmond over the last 6 races at Richmond, which is the most of any active driver. Denny won the September race back in 2016, and I feel Richmond is the best opportunity for Denny to win in the first round of the 2020.
Joey Logano +800- Joey will start Saturday evening’s race alongside Kevin Harvick in the 2nd position. Impressive run for Logano and team last week at Darlington with a damaged race car, finishing 3rd. Logano has the best average finish of 5.67 over the last 6 races at Richmond and an average driver rating of 104.1 that is 5th best. Logano won the spring race at Richmond in 2017, and has 3 more top 5 finishes beyond that victory. Joey has been hit and miss for me in 2020, but I really like this spot for him. Consider Logano for a win on Saturday night.
Kyle Busch +900- Richmond isn’t the best spot to take long shots in my opinion, and that is why Kyle is my longest shot for an outright victory on Saturday evening. Kyle will start from the 6th position for the Federated Auto Parts 400. Kyle has the 2nd best average driver rating of 6.17 over the last 6 races at Richmond in the Cup Series along with 5 top 10 finishes. Busch has picked up 2 victories at Richmond over the last 6 races at Richmond, along with 3 top 5s. The Cup Series will race the 750 horsepower engine along with the small spoiler on the back of the car, and Kyle Busch is one of the best in the short track package. Take some shots on Kyle on Saturday night.
Jeff’s Pick Joey Logano +800
