The Nascar Cup Series will be under the lights at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday night for the Federated Auto Parts 400. Saturday night’s race is the 2nd in the first round of the 2020 playoffs, and there are a couple of names already on the chopping block. Richmond is a .75 mile short track, wide and flat. I will be referencing the last 6 Richmond races below.
Here are a few matchups to consider for the Federated Auto Parts 400.
Kevin Harvick -122 vs. Denny Hamlin -109
Denny has won 4 of the last 6 races at Richmond against Kevin Harvick. Harvick will start on the pole Saturday night in the Federated Auto Parts 400 and Denny will start from the 7th position. Harvick has the better average driver rating of 111.6 over the last 6 races, but Denny has more top 5 finishes. Harvick has locked a spot into the next round of the 2020 playoffs, and Denny is looking to pick up a win. I think Denny will outrun Harvick on Saturday night.
Jeff’s Pick Denny Hamlin -109
William Byron +100 vs. Alex Bowman -130
Byron and Bowman have split the last 4 matchups at Richmond 2 and 2. Bryon and Bowman have average finishes over the last 4 of 17.25 and 17.5, and both have average driver ratings of 71 in the same time span. I am surprised the match up between Byron and Bowman is priced with juice on Alex and this is not an even matchup. Take a shot on Bryon at even money.
Jeff’s Pick: William Byron +100
Clint Bowyer +110 vs. Aric Almirola -140
Bowyer and Aric have split the match up 3 and 3 over the last 6 races at Richmond. In 2019, Bowyer claimed 2 top 10s at Richmond including a 3rd place finish in the spring. Bowyer has an average finish of 11.5 in the last 6 races at Richmond and Aric has an average finish of 14.5. Aric is 10th in the point standings and Clint is 11th, so both drivers need a solid finish on Saturday night to stay above the cut line. I like Bowyer to finish ahead of Aric.
Jeff’s Pick: Clint Bowyer +110
