Saturday afternoon the NASCAR Xfinity Series will do battle Darlington Raceway in the Sports Clips Haircuts VFW 200. Saturdays’ race at Darlington is one of the shortest races on circuit, so a mistake is very difficult to overcome even in the first stage. Tires are a premium at Darlington due to the very abrasive surface, and the teams are only going to have 5 sets of tires to work with.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200.
Denny Hamlin -125- Denny will be making his only appearance in the 2020 Xfinity Series on Saturday afternoon. Hamlin will be the only Cup driver in the field, hence the have -125 price. Hamlin will have to roll off from the last position on Saturday, but don’t be alarmed because he will pass all of the lesser funded teams in the first 15 laps. Denny competed in this race the last 2 years, finishing 4th in 2018 and was disqualified in 2019 after failing postrace tech inspection. Denny will be in a great showing on Saturday, so give him some consideration.
Austin Cindric +600- Austin will start Saturday’s Xfinity Series race from the 2nd row, in the 4th spot. Once again, Cindric will be one of the cars to beat on Saturday. Cindric has 8 top 5 finishes over the last 9 races, the only race he didn’t top 5 was last week at Daytona in that wild race where he finished 8th. I love the starting position for Cindric on Saturday, and we are getting some value on this outright pick.
Justin Allgaier +1000- Justin will roll off from the 16th starting spot on Saturday afternoon, so he will have some work ahead. Justin finished 3rd at Darlington back in May, and recently won the first race at Dover 2 weeks ago. Allgaier’s season on paper doesn’t indicate how good the car has been in 2020. Allgaier has crashed out of 6 races, and all of them of somebody else’s doing. Allgaier’s experience should lead to a great finish on Saturday, possibly a win. Sprinkle in a little bit on Allgaier Saturday.
Ross Chastain +1800- Chastain will fire off from the 5th position on Saturday afternoon. Ross is one of my favorite plays at Darlington on Saturday, and we are getting a ton of value on him. Ross finished 8th at Darlington back in May of 2020, and he finished 9th at Homestead in the first race back in June. Ross turned it on after the first Homestead race, finishing 3rd in the 2nd race at Homestead, 3rd place at the first Dover race, and a 2nd place finish in the 2nd Dover race 2 weeks ago. Ross has a great chance to finish top 5, and I think he can win if issues happen to Hamlin or Cindric.
