The Nascar Xfinity Series makes back down to the Daytona International Speedway on Friday evening for the Wa-WA 250. Friday’s Xfinity race will consist of 100 laps, making up the 250 mile advertised distance. 100 laps around Daytona is a relatively short race for the Xfinity Series, so the intensity to get the front will be high from the drop of the green flag. The big wreck is always lurking around the corner in every race at Daytona, and hopefully our picks can avoid those wrecks.
Here are a few drivers to consider for the Wa Wa 250.
Noah Gragson +750- Gragson will begin the Wa Wa 250 from the 4th position. Gragson won the race back in February at Daytona in 2020, and he finished 10th at Talladega back in June. Gragson is in a top 5 car, and he has been able to accomplish 15 top 5 finishes over the 21 races run so far in 2020. Noah has an aggressive driving style, and blocking the car behind you is how to win a race at Daytona in the draft. I like Gragson for the win on Friday.
Justin Haley +900- Haley will be starting the Wa Wa 250 from the 9th position on Friday evening. Justin won the Talladega Xfinity Series race back in June of this year, and finished 6th in the race at Daytona back in February. Haley currently sits 7th in the Xfinity Series point standings, and a win at Daytona on Friday evening would help position the team higher in the standings for the approaching playoffs.
Harrison Burton +1400- Burton will roll off from the 11th positon on Friday evening at Daytona. Burton and teammate Brandon Jones, who is starting 6th, should be able to team up and make way to the front through the first stage of the Wa Wa 250. Harrison finished a solid 2nd place in the Xfinity race back in February at Daytona, but unfortunately was involved in a crash at Talladega in June and finished 32nd. Burton is in a great spot to bounce back at Daytona, and we are getting the most value on him at Daytona Friday evening.
Daniel Hemric +1600- Hemric is my long shot outright pick to win the Wa Wa 250 on Friday evening. Daniel will begin Friday’s Xfinity Series race from the 7th starting spot. Jeb Burton raced the first 2 races at Daytona and Talladega for this team in 2020, and finished 24th and 3rd respectively. Hemric raced full time in the Cup Series a season ago, and now has an opportunity for a great showing at Daytona. I will give Hemric a look, and I feel he will team up with teammate Noah Gragson to make a push to victory in the final stage.
