The Nascar Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series makes way to the Monster Mile of Dover International Speedway on Friday afternoon for the KDI Office Technology 200. Dover is a fast 1 mile oval with steep banking in the turns as well as on the straightaways. The fast groove at Dover is very narrow, so passing can be quite challenging. Starting spots are key to success at Dover, so let’s take a look at the Truck Series race.
Here are a 5 drivers to consider for the KDI Office Technology 200.
Brett Moffitt +470- Moffitt will start Friday afternoon’s KDI 200 from the pole position. I expect Brett to take the lead and hold onto it through the first stage. Brett finished 2nd at Dover in the 2019 Truck race, and he won the 2019 Bristol race after starting on the pole there. Steep tracks like Dover, Bristol, and Homestead fit Moffitt’s style very well, and I expect Brett to have a great performance on Friday.
Christian Eckes +470- Eckes will start the KDI 200 from the 9th spot. Friday will mark Christian’s first start at Dover in a truck. Earlier in 2020, he finished 8 at Homestead which slightly compares to Dover. Eckes may have finished outside the top 5 at Homestead, but he had a top 5 driver rating of 102.9 in that race and he led 17 laps. Christian has 6 top 10s and 4 top 5 finishes through 12 races in 2020, and I think he has a great chance to do well at Dover on Friday.
Austin Hill +500- Austin makes his way to Dover with a 54 point lead in the 2020 Truck Series standings. Hill has 10 top 10s including 6 top 5s on the 2020 season. Austin will start the KDI 200 from the 3rd position and I imagine he will line up behind Brett Moffitt and could grab 2nd quickly. Hill finished 7th at Homestead and led 29 laps back in June of 2020. Austin is a solid shot to win at Dover on Friday afternoon.
Johnny Sauter +1500- Sauter will start Friday afternoon’s race from the 15th spot. Johnny will have some work to do in order to get to the top spot as he will need to avoid trouble. Sauter has won the last 3 races at the Monster Mile, so there is some encouragement that he can get to the top spot. Sauter has an excellent career at Dover, and he needs a victory in 2020. Sauter is my dark horse to win the KDI 200.
Todd Gilliland +2900- Todd is my longshot to win the KDI 200. The odds on Gilliand continue to be too high in my opinion in the 2020 season, and this price is no exception. Todd has 7 top 10 finishes in 2020 including 3 top 5 finishes. Gilliland finished 6th at Homestead in June, after starting 18th. Todd is another that really needs a win to have some security heading into the 2020 playoffs, and I will sprinkle a little action on him.
