The Nascar Cup Series will be running the FireKeepers Casino 312 on Saturday this coming weekend as part of a double header. Michigan International Speedway is a 2 mile D-shaped oval and is the sister track to California Speedway. Michigan is a very wide track, so we should see some 4 and 5 wide racing on the restarts. We didn’t find victory lane at New Hampshire last weekend, but hopefully we come out with a win at MIS on Saturday.
Here are a 5 drivers to consider for FireKeepers Casino 312.
Kevin Harvick +420- Once again, we find Kevin Harvick as the favorite heading into the race at Michigan on Saturday. Harvick has won 2 races over the last 6 races at Michigan, including the 2019 August race. Kevin has the best average driver rating of 121.8 over the last 6 Michigan races. Most of his success on the 2 mile tracks has come at Michigan over the last 3 years, and he is average finish of 6.33. Harvick will be a popular choice, and I feel as if he should get some action in.
Denny Hamlin +650- Denny finished 2nd in the 2019 August race at Michigan, but in the 2019 June struggled and finished 11th. Denny has been hit and miss over the last 6 races at Michigan. Denny has 3 top 10s including 2 top 5s over the last 6 races at Michigan. Denny continues to show that his car has top 3 speed in 2020, and starting in a top 12 spot on Saturday should be in great track position again. There is value on Denny, and I will have a few shares on Saturday.
Brad Keselowski +800- Brad returns to his home track Saturday/Sunday at Michigan. Brad has traditionally been one of the best drivers at Michigan over the last 5 years. Over the last 6 races at Michigan, Brad has the 3rd best average driver rating of 106.9, with 3 top 10 finishes. Over the last 10 races at 2 mile tracks, Brad has the 3rd best average driver rating of 106 and no DNFs. Keselowski picked up a dominating victory at New Hampshire last weekend, and I see that momentum continuing.
Martin Truex Jr. +900- Truex finished top 5 in both races at Michigan in 2019. Martin had the 2nd best passing quality percentage of 75 over the 2 races in 2019, indicating he was able to pass cars with ease. Truex has the 2nd best average driver rating over the last 6 races at Michigan of 108.3. Truex has 3 top 5 finishes over the last 6 at Michigan, no wins however. I feel there is a great chance Truex can find victory lane on Saturday, and I will have a little action in on him.
Ryan Blaney +1300- Blaney is my longest shot I am willing to take for the win at Michigan on Sunday. The fast cars usually stay in the top 10 at Michigan, and this is not a track to take a huge price. Blaney has been competitive at just about type of track on the 2020 season. Ryan has 6 top 10 finishes over the last 10 races at 2 mile D-shaped ovals. Ryan has the 7th best average driver rating over the last 6 races at Michigan of 97.2. I will sprinkle in a little action on Blaney to win on Saturday.
