The Nascar Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series will head to Kansas Speedway on Friday evening for the Kansas 200. Friday evening’s race will consist of 134 laps that will make up the 200 mile distance. Kansas is a 1.5 mile d- shaped oval, and comps very closely to the Las Vegas, Chicago, and Kentucky. We found victory lane at Texas with the heavy favorite Kyle Busch, and let’s see if we can repeat at Kansas on Friday night.
Here are a 5 drivers to consider for the Kansas 200.
Austin Hill +420- Hill will begin the Kansas 200 from the 6th position on Thursday night. Hill is a top the point standings in the Nascar Truck Series heading into Friday’s race, and for good reason. Austin has top 10 finishes in every race in the 2020 season, except last week at Texas where mechanical issues forced them out of the race. Austin finished 4th in the 2019 Truck Series race at Kansas, and I think he will rebound nicely on Thursday evening.
Christian Eckes +420- Eckes will being Thursday’s Truck Series race from the pole. Eckes finished 2nd to Kyle Busch last weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway after starting 7th. Eckes begin the 2020 season somewhat slow, but over the last 5 races has come on strong. Over the last 4 Truck Series races at 1.5 mile tracks, Eckes has finished in the top 10 in every race. I expect Eckes to grab the lead early, and I will not be shocked if he wins the first stage.
Brandon Jones +700- Jones will make a 2nd start in the Truck Series on the 2020 season at Kansas. Jones will begin the Kansas 200 from the 4th position on Thursday evening. Jones won the race at Pocono back in June of this year in the Kyle Busch Motorsports #51 Truck. Brandon finished 5th in the 2019 Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway. Of course, Brandon has been an Xfinity Series regular since 2016, and no doubt he will use that experience to get to the front on Friday evening.
Brett Moffitt +850- Brett starts the Kansas 200 on the outside front row in the 2nd spot. Brett has 4 top 10 finishes on the 2020 season, including a 5th place finish at Texas last weekend. Moffitt finished 8th in the 2019 Truck Series race at Kansas, and he also finished 7th in the 2017 race at Kansas. Brett started slow in 2020, but has put together top 5 and top 10 performances at the 1.5 mile tracks. I will consider putting a little action in on Moffitt to win Friday evening.
Johnny Sauter +1800- Sauter will start the Kansas 200 from the 18th position, so he will have some work to do to get to the front. Sauter has the experience to navigate traffic, so he should make it to the top 10 in the first stage. Sauter has 7 top 10 finishes at Kansas Speedway including 6 top 5 finishes in the Nascar Truck Series. Johnny has finished in the top 10 in all of the 2020 races at 1.5 mile speedways, except las week at Texas where an engine expired. I look for Sauter to bounce back well on Friday night at Kansas Speedway.
