The NASCAR Cup Series will me a rare Thursday mid-week appearance at the Kansas Speedway for the Super Start Batteries 400. Kansas Speedway is a 1.5 mile cookie cutter track, very similar to Las Vegas, Chicagoland, and Kentucky Speedway. I will be referencing the last 4 Cup races at the Kansas Speedway. We rebounded at Texas last weekend, winning all 4 matches to go up 13 units on the season.
Here are a few matchups to consider for the Super Start Batteries 400.
Alex Bowman -118 vs. Kurt Busch -112
Bowman and Kurt have split this matchup 2 and 2 over the last 4 races at Kansas. Kurt has 4 top 10 finishes over the last 6 races at Kansas. Bowman has 2 top 10 finishes over the last 6 races at Kansas. On the year, Kurt has 11 top 10 finishes, and Bowman only has 5 top 10 finishes. I will take a shot on Kurt over Alex on Thursday evening.
Jeff’s Pick: Kurt Busch -112
Clint Bowyer -115 vs. William Byron -115
Bowyer has finished ahead of William in all 4 Kansas races I am referencing. Bowyer has an average finish of 11.6 over the last 4 races at Kansas, and Byron has an average finish of 24th in the same time span. Byron and Bowyer have split matchups in the 2020 season at Las Vegas and Kentucky. Bowyer has 5 top 10 finishes on the 2020 season, while Byron has 5 top 10 finishes on the season as well. I am giving the advantage to Clint at Kansas based on the history here.
Jeff’s Pick: Clint Bowyer -115
Brad Keselowski -125 vs. Joey Logano -106
Brad and Joey have split the last 4 matchups at Kansas Speedway 2 and 2. Brad has a better average finish over the last 6 races of 9.17, compared to Logano’s average finish of 16.83. In 2020, Brad has won 3 of the 5 matchups against Joey on the 1.5 mile intermediate tracks. Overall in 2020, Logano and Brad have run close to one another, but I am going to take a shot on Joey Thursday evening.
Jeff’s Pick: Joey Logano -106
Erik Jones -115 vs. Kurt Busch -115
Jones has swept the last 4 matchups over Kurt Busch in the last 4 races run at Kansas. Over the last 6 at Kansas Speedway, Erik and Kurt have very similar average driver ratings of 91.6 and 90.8 respectfully. Both Jones and Kurt have 4 top 10s including 2 top 5s as well. Jones has simply prevailed in a head to head situation, and I can easily see that happening again on Thursday evening.
Jeff’s Pick: Erik Jones -115
