The Nascar Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series will head to Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday night for part 2 of a NASCAR double header in the Vankor 350. Texas is a 1.5 mile quad-oval, and comps very closely to the Charlotte Motor Speedway. We didn’t find victory lane at Kentucky, after rain caused the race to finish short of advertised distance. At Texas on Saturday evening, we need to get back to victory lane.
Here are a 5 drivers to consider for the Vankor 350.
Kyle Busch -145- Kyle will be pulling double duty on Saturday racing first in the Xfinity Series, and then competing in the Truck Series race Saturday night. Kyle has been amazing throughout his career in the Truck series, and he has 4 wins at Texas, including the 2019 Vankor 350. On the 2020 season, Kyle has 2 wins in 4 starts, as well as a 2nd place finish. Kyle will begin the Vankor 350 from the 4th position, and should make it to the front quickly.
Austin Hill +800- Austin will begin the Vankor 350 at Texas from the 3rd starting spot on Saturday night. Austin continued his streak of 7 top 10 finishes last weekend at Kentucky, as he finished 5th in the rain shortened event. Hill finished 9th back at Charlotte earlier in the 2020 season, and followed that up with a 2nd place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Hill has been top 3 all season, but he’s yet to capture a victory. Hill would be my best bet to edge out the heavy favorite Kyle Busch, and I will have some action in.
Ross Chastain +1400- Ross will begin the Truck Series race at Texas from the 24th starting spot. Ross has 4 top 10 finishes on the 2020 season in the Truck Series, including a 3rd place finish at Homestead back in June. Chastain finished 7th at Texas in 2019, and he finished 6th at Atlanta earlier this year. Ross has a lot of experience in the Truck Series, and I have confidence Ross can come through the field quickly in the first stage.
Brett Moffitt +1700- Brett starts the Vankor 350 from the 8th starting spot. Brett has 3 top 10 finishes on the 2020 season, including a 4th place finish at Charlotte back in May. Brett followed up a week later with an 8th place finish at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Moffitt has raced at Texas 4 times in his career and has 3 top 15 finishes and 1 top finish back in the 2018 season. Brett is in elite equipment, and must be in consideration for Saturday’s race.
Zane Smith +2300- Zane is my longshot pick to win at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday evening. Zane comes off another top 10 performance at Kentucky, notching him 4 top 10 finishes on the season. Zane finished 3rd at Charlotte in the Truck Series back in May. The only race Smith has finished outside the top 20 this season was at Homestead-Miami, where was involved in a crash. Zane has a truck that has the ability to win, and is worth sprinkling some action on.
