The Nascar Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series will take on the Kentucky Speedway Saturday evening in the Buckle Up In Your Truck 225.Kentucky Speedway is a 1.5 mile cookie cutter oval, and it compares to tracks such as Las Vegas, Chicagoland, and the Kansas Speedway. We found victory lane in the previous Truck Series race at the Pocono Raceway, let’s keep the momentum rolling.
Here are a 5 drivers to consider for the Buckle Up In Your Truck 225.
Austin Hill +350- Hill comes in as the outright favorite for the Truck Series race on Saturday evening at Kentucky. Austin finished 2nd in the last race at the Pocono Raceway. On the 2020 season, Austin has finished in the top 10 in all 6 races that have taken place. Also, Hill has 3 top 5 finishes on the 2020 season. Las Vegas compares close to Kentucky, and back in February Austin finished 3rd while Kyle Busch went onto win. No Cup Series drivers will participate in the Truck Series race on Saturday evening, and I expect Austin to put on a good show.
Brett Moffitt +600- Moffitt finished 7th at Pocono Raceway 2 weeks ago. In the 6 races that have been completed in the 2020 season, Brett has 3 top 10 finishes, including a top 5 finish. Brett has been solid on the 1.5 mile oval tracks not only in the 2020 season, but also throughout his career. Moffitt will start Saturday’s race from the pole position, and this will give him an edge on the beginning portion of the race.
Johnny Sauter +900- Sauter is usually in consideration at just about every track we visit on the Truck circuit. Sauter has 17 years of experience in the Truck Series, including 24 total wins. Sauter has 2 top 5 finishes and 4 top 10 finishes in the 2020 season. Johnny finished 2nd to Kyle Busch at Las Vegas in February, and followed that up with a 7th place finish at Charlotte. Johnny finished 10th in the 2019 Kentucky race, but I feel he has a chance to win at Kentucky on Saturday evening.
Ben Rhodes +1400- Rhodes will begin the Kentucky race on Saturday evening from the 6th position. Ben finished 5th at Las Vegas earlier in the 2020 season, and followed that up with a top 10 finish at Charlotte. Rhodes has 2 top 5 finishes on the 2020 season, and outside of a crash at Daytona had been very consistent. With Rhodes starting in the top 3 rows for the Kentucky race on Saturday evening, he will have an advantage on track position.
Todd Gilliland +1800- Todd is my longshot to win the Truck Series race on Saturday evening. Currently, Todd is sitting 5th in the point standings here in the 2020 Truck Series. Todd has 2 top 5 finishes and 2 top 10 finishes over the 6 races that have been run in 2020. Gilliand finished 7th in the 2018 Kentucky race with Kyle Busch Motorsports. Todd has been in a top 5 performing truck all season, and is worth a little action on Saturday evening.
