We head to the Pocono Raceway this weekend for the Pocono Organics 325 on Saturday afternoon. Pocono is a 2.5 mile track, shaped like a triangle. Pocono has 3 distinct turns, making the race a challenge for crew chiefs to get the cars set up. The race on Saturday afternoon is 325 miles or 130 laps. We didn’t find victory lane in the last race at Talladega, and we need a great rebound here at Pocono.
Here are a 5 drivers to consider for the Kids Free 325.
Kevin Harvick +750- Kevin has the 2nd best average rating of 120.3 in the last 4 races at Pocono Raceway, just behind Kyle Busch. During the 2019 July race, Harvick lead 62 of the 160 total laps, and had 37 fastest laps. The only track that compares to the Pocono Raceway is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Harvick won the race at Indianapolis last year. Harvick does not have a win in the last 4 races at Pocono, and there is a great chance that he can win this weekend.
Martin Truex Jr +700- Truex won the June 2018 race at the Pocono Raceway, leading 31 laps and had 32 fastest laps. Martin has the 5th best average driver rating over the last 4 races at Pocono of 98.4. Martin’s driver rating would have no doubt been better if the team didn’t lose an engine in the June 2019 race. Truex is a top 5 car when we go to the 2.5 mile flat tracks, and I will have some action on him Saturday.
Chase Elliott +800- After a tough race at Talladega, Chase heads to the Pocono Raceway looking to rebound. Over the last 4 Pocono Races, Chase has 3 top 10 finishes, and only 1 DNF back last July. Elliott has been in one of if not the best cars at every track on the Cup circuit this year. We are getting some value on Chase right, so I would take advantage early.
Denny Hamlin +800- Denny has 5 career wins at the Pocono Raceway, and he won the previous race at Pocono in July of 2019. Denny has the 3rd best average driver rating over the last 4 Pocono races of 105.8. Denny also has 3 top 10 finishes and an average finish of 13th over the last 4 races here at Pocono. Denny has been hit and miss for us this year, but heading back to Pocono we should see Denny in contention at the end of Saturday’s race.
William Byron +2000- William has 3 top 10s over the last 4 races at the Pocono Raceway, and an average finish of 9.25 in the same time span. Bryon started on the pole for the June 2019 Pocono race where he led 25 laps, ran 91% of the laps in the top 15, and had the 3rd most fastest laps at 12. The Hendrick team continues to be fast, and as of recent been very successful at Pocono. Bryon is a longshot, and is worth sprinkling some action on.
