We head to the Talladega Super Speedway on Sunday afternoon for the Unhinged 300. Dega is the biggest track on the circuit at 2.66 miles, and has 33 degrees of banking in the turns. Talladega is known for the 3 and 4 wide racing, and of course the big wreck that can happen at any moment. We came close to finding victory lane at Homestead last week, and we need to get back on the winning train at Talladega.
Here are a 5 drivers to consider for the Unhinged 300.
Chase Briscoe +600- Chase has been on fire this season, even before we had to take a break for the pandemic. Briscoe finished 5th at Daytona back in February, and he won the Las Vegas race right after Daytona. Chase finished 4th at Talladega back in 2019, and as long as he avoids trouble should be in contention for the win.
Ross Chastain +700- Ross continues to be one of the top drivers of the Xfinity series in the 2020 season. Ross won the 2019 July race at Daytona, leading 49 of the 100 total laps in that event. Chastain has been somewhat hit or miss in the Xfinity series on the super speedways, but experience should guide him to being in contention on Saturday.
Noah Gragson +765- Gragson finished 11th at the lone Talladega Xfinity race in 2019. Noah won the first race of the Xfinity season at Daytona this year, leading 15 laps. Noah is in JR Motorsports equipment, and they have been solid all year. I would expect him and Justin Allgaier to be drafting towards the front, and Noah races aggressive enough to come out with another victory this season.
Brandon Jones +1200- Brandon finished 4th at Daytona back in February this year, and he finished 11th in the 2019 Talladega race. Jones has been competitive in the Xfinity series, even dating back to last year. Joe Gibbs Toyotas typically run well at Talladega, and I have confidence Brandon can be around at the end of the Unhinged 300 to win.
Ryan Sieg +4500- Ryan is my longshot to win the Unhinged 300 at Talladega on Saturday afternoon. Sieg drives for an underfunded team, yet they have persevered in the top 10 a few times in the 2020 Xfinity Series. Sieg finished 9th at Daytona back in February, and last year at Talladega finished 16th. With Christopher Bell, Cole Custer, and Tyler Reddick all moving up to the Cup Series, opportunities have opened up for Sieg to show top 5/ top 10 finishes. I will have a little action in on that Ryan Sieg on Saturday afternoon.
